This post probably belongs in the dating section but I practically lived in this section over my breakup so I feel more at home here.

I'm almost 2 years after a horrible breakup (see story above). It's taken a long time to get back to feeling good but I feel I'm there.

I almost totally removed myself from the dating scene and focused on work, which I've been totally fine with and I'm feeling good about me.

Anyway, last weekend I met a guy at a party and we got on really well. He asked me out for coffee tomorrow and I've agreed. He's a great guy and there's chemistry, but I'm annoyed that I keep thinking back to my ex and how I don't feel as excited as I did for dates with him.

What's going on? Am I not over him (still?!) or am I putting up a barrier with the new guy so that I don't get hurt again. Am I overthinking things? Definitely :p

Any thoughts, guys?

It's a self protective measure. If you dwell on a previous flame, you won't get caught up emotionally with a new guy and make yourself vulnerable.

Knock it off! :laugh::love::D

Go and have fun! Relax and be yourself. Enjoy the companionship!

Well, you probably have a few more walls up then you used to have before the break up of the last relationship. Don't worry, once you actually go on the date it will all work out just fine. You will realize that this new guy is nothing like the old guy and these experiences will be completely different than the ones in the previous relationship. I think that the pressure of an actual date (rather than the fun and casual atmosphere at the party) is just making you nervous. Trust me, you will have so much fun if you can just treat it a little more casually. Good luck and have fun!! :love:
