fortyninethousand322 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Dafuq? What's confusing about it? You could put a desk in there with a computer and internet access, get a basketball hoop put in, some weights so you could work out, etc. It would be kind of cool actually. 2

"No one needs to know that you don't really have a job, least of all the person you're married to or dating..." Are you serious?

Yeah, but I would actually do something I'd have loads of sh*t going on. I'd MAKE jobs even. I'd learn to trade, invest etc. I'd pick up a skill and earn more money on top of that - sh*t, I'd just become a straight up polymath. 4
fortyninethousand322 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 "No one needs to know that you don't really have a job, least of all the person you're married to or dating..." Are you serious? Sure, why not? I mean I wouldn't say to a girl "it's none of your business". Obviously I'd make something up and say I'm a consultant or something important sounding. And it's only if I actually won the lottery. I haven't and I'm not likely to (I don't even play that often, this is just pure speculation). It's not like I'd be living a double life as a member of the mafia or a CIA assassin. What's the big deal?

What's the big deal? The big deal is you'd be a liar. And not even handsome, rich, men with big dicks are attractive if they are ALSO liars. Liars are the bottom of the barrel in the dating pool. 1

Liars are the bottom of the barrel in the dating pool. It's not that much of a lie. Honestly, do you expect everyone you date to be 100% honest? It's not like covering up for an affair, or something that directly involves the other party. Too much sensitivity here. Too much believing that all actions are the same no matter what the context.

Let me guess....you're single. 3

fortyninethousand322 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 You don't think whether or not the HUSBAND has a job is the business of his WIFE? As long as the money is there, what's it to her? He has money, he goes off somewhere for 8 hours a day that's all there is to it. It's like saying that if you have an incurable disease that's not contagious but will one day kill you when you reach 90 years of age that you have a duty to tell your spouse. If it becomes an issue then you tell them. If not, no harm no foul. Let me guess....you're single. That's ad hominem and has nothing to do with my post. A single person can have a valid point. Argue with the statement made, not the person making the statement.

And yes, if you do get married or even in a exclusive relationship as BF/GF, that stuff does matter to your SO. You have no idea when that info may actually be necessary and, if she finds out otherwise that you was lying concerning your profession, your head will be on a platter since she is wondering what else you have been lying about. 2

Oh come on! So if your wife or girlfriend says "do I look fat in this dress?" you're going to answer honestly? No way. Or if she says she wants to see a movie that you don't particularly care for, are you going to tell her that? Or are you going to act like you want to see it too? Some things are best not said or even lied about.
miss_jaclynrae Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 As many other women stated in here... it isn't the money or the job. It is the lack of ambition. If it was your dream job and your CAREER, that would be different. Not to mention that in the long run, I would want both my husband and I to be able to support a family, and that would mean aspiring for a decent job that could financially do that. It goes both ways, men don't find women who are just fine with a mediocre entry level job as attractive either. Sure for the now it is fine, but for the long run... not so much. 1

Some things are best not said or even lied about. I prefer to answer honestly but not insulting. So if I do think she looks fat in that dress, I will say it. I'm confident the women I do want would appreciate that than for you to lie to her directly as that brings even more questions to the table concerning trust. As for the second question, same thing. In this situation, I would say that I don't have much interest in it but I'm willing to watch it if I hasn't seen that particular movie before. For what it is worth, I may actually like it afterwards so I don't see any harm in it. I do want to show to her that I'm interest in her as a person, not just a sex object. I have no issues compromising to do that.
phineas Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I make more than the median salary for my location. I think average salary is 30k which is enough to own a small home in a neighborhood where people aren't shot or houses aren't getting broken into. But, the majority of women I meet for dating make a lot less & can barely afford their own crappy apartment. Which isn't a problem for me. Until they start looking at me like an ATM machine when it comes to going out. Then it's buh-bye. OP f-them. The economy sucks & i'm willing to bet most of the women you meet don't make anywhere near what they require their men to make.

How long could you possibly keep up that charade? 1

ltjg45 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 You'd be surprised. No wonder my gender gets such a bad rep. 1
Treasa Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I guess if you won the lottery and married a complete idiot who has no idea how finances in the house are managed, then your plan might work.
fortyninethousand322 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 No wonder my gender gets such a bad rep. Well, I've never cheated, never hooked up or used a girl for sex. Nor have I ever committed any acts of domestic violence. So, as far as I'm concerned I'm an amazing person.

We got enough of them already. I can barely trust anyone these days because of it, male or female.

So, as far as I'm concerned I'm an amazing person. That...is the least I would expect from a man at base level, and would only get with him if procreating meant the survival of the species, and even then I probably wouldn't bother. I don't think people are amazing just because they don't do bad things. 3

Being a man who hasn't cheated, been abusive... or anything else in that catagory is above base level? I agree with her completely, not being a total D-bag doesn't make you amazing.

And after reading some of the stuff on there I'm beginning to think people's standards are much lower than I thought.
