Caius Ballad Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 -If a shooter like James Holmes started killing people women will expect me to die for them just like the boyfriends did. -I'll be expected to do all the things considered masculine or manly by women's view point. -Seeing as I'm an already short thin guy I'm expected to work even harder just to gain respect from men and be notice by females. So what happen if I reject male gender roles in relationships? From what I've notice almost all women won't date you. Another yet disturbing issue I've notice is if women take the dominate role in relationships most of the time she won't respect the male and that's when she'll start cheating. I feel like as a man who isn't a mindless slave to his gender role that I'm screwed because of female instincts that demand males act/be a certain way.

It's the airplane mask philosophy: You aren't much help to others until you yourself are secure. There are clear signs that not all women expect men to die for them. I'm willing to bet most women don't expect men to die for them. Take, for example, the fact that women are now soldiers alongside men, ready to fight for their country. I don't know where you get your understanding of masculinity. I suspect you likely take most information from the misogynist sites. These sites are probably the worst offenders when it comes to defining both women as weak and men as having to act and behave in particular ways. If you are truly depressed about your gender, I strongly recommend you stay away from these sites and find, instead, activities where you feel valued in real life. It's complete bull**** actually. I like a man who is a real human beings, with moments when he allows himself to be vulnerable and moments when he is passionate about things in his life. Moments when he is strong and moments when he is weak. Most people, men and women, in loving relationships expect the same. Your perception of what women want and expect is completely distorted. If it truly causes you to hate yourself this much, I suggest therapy.

Yes, but it's not a female thing. Almost everyone has a disconnect of some kind with what they say vs what they do. Ask people if they think going to the library is a good thing, most will say "yes". But then go back and find out how many of them actually go (answer: not many). So yeah, you'll have to learn to observe behavior over words.
