Should I next him?

So I just wanted a little bit of advice. I recently met a really great guy and we really hit it off on our first date. He said I was really cool and that we'll hangout again soon in the near future. He told me to text him the next day. So i waited till the late afternoon and we talked back and forth for a little bit. He asked me how my day was going so i answered and then reciprocated the question and I havent heard from him since. Its been almost a full day. Its just weird for me. Its one thing if we finished having a conversation id leave it for a few days and wait to hear from him but this was mid conversation which makes me think that he probably just got busy and wasnt focused on his phone. Im just not sure how long I should give him to respond. Should I wait until tomorrow and then move on with my life because if he doesnt respond it would make me think he's just not that into me. Or should I give him the benifit of the doubt and let it slide? I dont really know what to think

Personally, I could have forgotten about a text even if I really was into a girl. However if I was to eventually get another text as simple as "hey, what's up?" I'd probably be happy to see the girl really wants to get in touch. You have nothing to lose.

Wait another day. On more than one occasion I have received a text and not known it or it got lost in the shuffle. See if he initiates. If not move on.
