He wouldn't stop just because you didn't take one phone call. He'd be calling, leaving messages, showing up at your door, etc. I got a call once a month or two after a breakup and my ex didn't leave a message and it drove me crazy for DAYS until finally (against my better judgment) I broke NC and texted him to ask what he wanted. Turned out his cell phone had accidentally dialed my number. The lesson I learned was that unless they're really chasing after you to convince you to talk to them about getting back together, it's best to just ignore any contact, assume it's just breadcrumbs and stick to NC. 1

They know they hurt you...they've come to their senses, so they will realize, if you don't answer that call, you're fed up with how they hurt you, and give up. 1
