Girlfriend and I separated almost a month ago. She says she needs space, and yet she sat down next to me at church last Sunday (yes, we go to the same one, and no, there isn't another one in town I could go to, or on another day besides Sunday; we're Catholics btw)

I am not quite over her yet. It pains me still that when we show the sign of peace we just shake hands now instead of hugging like we used to as a way to show our love. Even sitting next to her reminds me of all the times we used to sit together and fool around a little.

I don't want to come off as mean to her, but I think I still can't yet have her sit next to me and act like it's normal. And I think it would be too drastic to try to go to another church in the next town over or on a different day just to avoid her.

What should I do, folks?

I think you have to resort to the drastic. What matters more to you? Your healing potential or having her think "you're being mean to her"? And yes, that's a rhetorical question.

Enter church after, or before her. Certainly someone will sit by you (or simply sit by someone else)
