I never see anyone with them, oh well, maybe it is my lame town:( But it is hot on the right guy. Just a rambling....musing.

I went to college in a liberal hippie town and the white people with dreads really didnt take great care of them. They generally appeared less washed, less well kept, and generally way more messy than the people of color(black, latino, etc) who had dreads. I think that has a lot to do with the sub culture though. Usually hippies didnt really care much for appearance...no matter their race....so thats why hippies generally had less good looking dreads. But however, most hippies tend to be white, and usually the only white people you encounter with dreads are hippie folks...so youll usually find that white dread heads go the "neglect method" with their dreads. Which is essentially just letting you hair do what it does naturally. No combs, no retwisting...nada...exceept for washing. However, since most people of color with dreads tend to not be hippies, I saw they more cared about having their dreads manicured...ie...that is making sure they were washed more often, de-linted, parted well so the dreads were of even sizes...etc. So thats my take on it. However, I must say I ran into a couple hippie gals in school who had sexy beautiful dreads and took great care of their hair. Im a sucker for a chick with alternative hair styles. Also, I noticed the dudes put less time into maintaining their hair than the chicks.

Example being shorter skirts look nice on woman with nice legs.....but many with not so nice legs wear them anyways. Guess it is them just being comfortable in their own skin.

A white person trying to mimick uniquely black hairstyles is just as ridiculous and self-hating as those black people from the 60's that had chemically treated Elvis pompadours. Being comfortable in your own skin when you are doing something ridiculous is not admirable, it's a lack of self-realization. Huh? Make no sense. They are dreadlocks, not a huge issue, but LS always seems to go way off path. I mentioned bad legs and wearing short dresses, as if they have the confidence to show hideous legs, they must be comfortable in their own skin. I think blonde long dreads are sexy on men....and think it is presumptious to mention hygiene. I have witnessed poor hygiene on short haired Harvard grads, men from all walks of life. 1

Actually once I decided to dread my hair, the attention i received from women went up greatly. And they were like freaking catnip when they were longer. I cut them last summer when they hit shoulder length...and Ive been regrowing it. I so wish I didnt cut it though, because girls notice me less now...but their getting back to where they were slowly.

Dreadlocks are for everyone and is a hairstyle thats been around since the dawn of man. Dreadlocks happen from simply not combing your hair...and then the strands lock together. People of all creeds have been getting dreadlocks forever. Do some research next time. Btw...have you ever seen some old Indians (asian subcontient). Some of those guys have super long dreads and its been apart of their culture for years.

Letting your hair get oily and dirty makes it more able to slip, so it wont tangle as fast. And dreads are basically big ole tangles lol Edited July 4, 2012 by kaylan

I once saw this white guy on the bus, wearing a grey suit, long blonde dreads and a cowboy hat (that's rare in London). He looked epic (and I'm sure the women thought the same) so I had to go over and shake his hand for having such good hair
