I have a very high sex drive but usually have sex in a committed relationship. I'm not judging people who do it but i have very strong concerns for STDs etc. What are you thoughts?
louise_23 Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) i had two in quite close succession of eachother. i wont be doing it again though. i was drinking an awful lot at the time, im the primary carer for a parent wirh cancer and had been struggling with an intense college course so just let off steam by drinking. i didnt een make the decision for the sake of sex, i just wanted to be close to someone. generally i can take or leave sex. im really not bothered. the only other person ive slept with was a very ltr. like 6yrs. im loving being single and just doing what i want as well so im not bothered about another relationship yet either. the point about stds is a good one. ive never caught one thankfully but the ONS guys didnt want to use protection and ive heard similar things from friends. i find that alarming. even.if youre clear, you dont know where the other person has been.... anyway i think women have more opportunity but men probably have more of them. womeb have feelings and all that to do with sex and men can just have sex and disappear. well thats what ive read and the two ONS guys proved it, so.. d'Arthez Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I doubt the it that men have more ONS than women. After all, you have to have a ONS with someone. Women are probably less likely to admit to them, because of cultural norms.

What is your question about? As for STDs, use condoms for vaginal and oral sex. In the USA, people of any gender have a lot of ONSs. If you are a woman, you will get bored with ONSs very soon. If you are a man, you will be OK with ONSs unless you have problems with condoms.

And how do you know this? Enjoyment of one night stands depends on the individual. Not the gender. Personally Im not interested in having what will probably be bad sex with someone that could put my health at risk

Since men engage in prostitution more than women, I'd say men have more ONS.
carhill Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 OP, it's really hard to know 'how often'. Most people IRL don't talk about random sexual encounters. As an example, how many of your friends routinely talk with you about the specifics of their sex lives? I don't mean "I banged some chick out behind the bar" but rather specifics like names, places, dates; things that are verifiable. IME, talking with men and women for a little over three decades on such topics, women appear to be more forthcoming about such casual sexual encounters. Does that mean they 'do it' more? Unknown. I doubt it. They just talk with me about it more then men do. As someone said prior, if hetero, one of each gender is needed for ONS. Experience would indicate that it is more likely to be a smaller number of high value and promiscuous men servicing the ONS needs of the ladies so inclined to make the numbers equal out. So, if accurate, in that narrow context, women have more discrete ONS than men. If three women have ONS with one man, only one man has had ONS but three women have. Hope that makes sense. I've only made love in committed relationships or while married, notwithstanding all the 'stories' I've heard throughout life. That's my style. Each person's style is unique. Some include ONS. Life goes on.

But the majority of those who procure from prostitutes are men. A prostitute must have a high quantity of customers. Just like business owners must have a high quantity of customers. For example, 1 prostitute needs 20 customers at least. So if a town has 1 prostitute, then that means at least 20 men have had ONS compared to 1 prostitute.

I don't consider any thing you may pay for as a one night stand but that is just me . More as entertainment.
