bac Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Are you out of your mind? What bad genes does baldness indicate? It indicates that if you have babies with a bald man, your sons are going to be bald too.
Med Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Regarding baldness. It could happen to anyone, baldness can be caused by many medical conditions even be stress related & not necessary be genetic.
KathyM Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I think it depends on how bad these things are. Slight balding or thining in back would be better than missing teeth or a huge beer gut. Slightly yellow teeth would be better than major hair loss on top. I also think I'd rather see normal teeth on a man, rather than ultra white fake looking teeth, assuming there are no missing teeth. If either of these three things were only slight, the slight balding would be the bigger turn off for me, followed by the beer gut, and then the teeth.
Imajerk17 Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I have a different take: Biggest turn-off is your not opening your mouth to say something. Average build is fine, if your teeth aren't that good go to a dentist. Hair can be fixed too.
chphan Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) My next step is getting my teeth fix as much as I can but it can be expensive. I go to the dentist regularly and brush regularly but my teeth definitely has a bit of yellowness to them even though I go every 3 months for cleaning. I think its a bit of old age and wear and tear from eating through the years that the yellowness to them. Its natural yellowness. Its not yellow but its not super white since I go get them clean every 3 months so its nothing that can be fix unless I go for whitening which I'm incline to do next month. Porcelain veneers is way too expensive. My main problem is gaps between my teeth where the gums has decline over the years. Food sometimes get stuck between there easily due to this. Els Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I'm not sure what you mean by bad teeth. If they're just a little crooked and not perfect million-dollar-smile teeth, s'all good. If you mean that it looks like he hasn't bothered to brush or floss in days or visit the dentist ever... then yes, would definitely bother me. A bit of gut doesn't bother me. Balding is a bit of a concern since I am wary of dating men twice my age (which is when most men start balding), and a 20-30 yr old man naturally balding would be, well, slightly concerning. But if it's shaved on purpose, that really isn't the same thing.
FitChick Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I'd like to know how you could diplomatically broach the subject to someone concerning getting his teeth fixed? I know someone who could certainly afford it and I am surprised his beautiful grown daughter hasn't said anything to him (maybe she has). I can only assume it's dentalphobia. He doesn't seem to have had much luck dating, although he was married many years ago.
PinkInTheLimo Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Are you out of your mind? What bad genes does baldness indicate? It indicates that if you have babies with a bald man, your sons are going to be bald too. So what? BTW, I've read somewhere that the hair of a guy is often more influenced by the genes on his mother's side than on his father's side. Of which my brother is a good example (has way more hair in his forties than my dad had in his twenties)
mark 40 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Bald. Bad Teeth. Or a bit of a gut? Just kinda wondering on this. Say a dude comes up to ya with decent looks, and hair, but bad teeth. Or bald, but decent look, teeth, and maybe a bit of a beer gut. I like to think I have decent teeth (mostly white and straight). Not Gym Guy/Mr. Six Pack body, but still good shape. And I keep my hair pretty much buzzed all year long. I guess what I'm wondering is when I'm at a club, bar, concert, etc. If a girl takes a look at me, but I don't see any interest, what could it be? And yes I do shower, shave, and all that. i may have all three by the time i reach 50.
daphne Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Bad teeth. I once dated a guy who was losing his hair quickly in his early 20's. He was still awesome. I have dated a couple of guys who weren't super fit, but that wasn't a deal breaker although I prefer fit guys. But I cannot get past bad teeth. And for the record, I believe male baldness is passed on through the mother's genes not the father's.
NateC Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 This certainly explains some things. I'm horribly insecure about my teeth because when I did get them fixed, the dentist didn't do a great job and now one cap's missing and another one cracked...so it doesn't look great. Getting them fixed is my first priority when I can get dental insurance again though... :/
FitChick Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Will dental insurance pay for caps or is that considered cosmetic?
Chiyo Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Bad teeth. I wouldn't be able to get past this. If your balding, don't do a combover or anything hideous like that. Go for the shaved look if it's severe enough. Some girls have preferences against balding, but plenty have no issue or even find a shaved head sexy. Just make sure that whatever you have, wear it well, not like you're trying to hide it. As for a gut, small gut no issue, bigger than that would be more to each girl's preferences, but if you're active, most girls would care more that you're active and forgive whatever imperfections your body may have.
carhill Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 It indicates that if you have babies with a bald man, your sons are going to be bald too. My father died with a full head of hair at 69. I was going bald in my twenties. Coincidentally, so did my mother's brothers (all three of them). Genetics are interesting things. I would say that my baldness got more 'comments' over the decades than anything else. YMMV.
NateC Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Will dental insurance pay for caps or is that considered cosmetic? Sorry, wrong term. They're fillings. I had one in my front upper tooth and it's fallen out three separate times. I'm very self-conscious about it because it looks like I have a hole there (because it is). At the very least, it's not odd-colored and at times I don't even care and just smile anyway.
Jane2011 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Bald, or having thinning hair, would be the least turn-off to me. In fact, that's not even much of a turn-off in general. Bad teeth and a beer gut are equal potential turn-offs to me, so it's a question of degree which determines which is worse. I'm not that picky about men's teeth as far as yellowness or crookedness; I'm more concerned with whether I get the sense of him having a clean mouth and good breath. That said, I do like basically straight teeth, but a little crookedness is not a big deal, and can even create a look of character. And perfectly white teeth freak me out anyway. If he's over 30, I'd almost expect him to have less than perfectly-white teeth, and be fine with it. The beer gut......ugh. Nasty!
HHC Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I would say baldness is the worst because it shows bad genes. Say what? I don't think I can answer. I'm married to a man with all three traits.
