This is pretty simple. To one-line "hi" "you're hot" mails, rude or insulting ones, from men not within your parameters, no response of any kind warranted.

To sincere emails from men in your parameters, use the site's functionality that sends a rejection in one or two mouseclicks or use a cut and paste stock response of your own that takes little time. If these persist, ask you why, whatever, use the site's blocking functionality. No mess, no fuss. It's not that hard to show basic human courtesy.

People who put a profile on a dating site are presumed to be looking to meet other people, so as oaks said, it's not "unsolicited." You solicit emails in the act of joining the site. Ignoring polite emails entirely from folks in your parameters is plain rudeness, a common rudeness OLD, but rude nonetheless. Hope this helps.

I'll contact women if I think they may be willing to be flexible in their parameters.

Like if they say they're looking for a man that's of a certain height, but let's say I'm only 1-inch shorter, I'll contact them anyways, to see if they respond or be willing to have some wiggle room there.

I don't think it's ever rude to ignore a message from someone who is unattractive.
