Girl tells me she loves me. I question it and say I do too. Now it's awkward.

There's this friend I'm taking to my high school Senior prom. I knew her since Sophomore year, but apparently I had a class with her Freshman year. This past month we've been talking a lot via texting and a bit more in classes ever since I asked her to prom in a somewhat special way. We'd have like the deepest conversations I'd only tell my closest friends. She calls me "bestfriend" and we have both confessed to each other that we liked each other a couple of weeks ago.

 

A few days ago, she texted me while I was in class something like "Ahaha do you wanna be my boyfriend?" Of course I was a bit surprised and I told her I'll tell her when I get home. Later that day she texted me bringing up that I never answered her question. I said I'll answer it, and it depends if she would like to be my girlfriend. She responded that she was kidding... and that she was serious at first and now it's whatever to her now. I thought that was a bit weird, but I just played along with it.

 

We ended up talking more casually Eventually she tells me she's going to go to bed and sends me something like "Good night best friend! I love you!" I'm like WHOAAAAAAAAAA and I replied with something like "Good night! Was that last part serious?" That was probably a dumbass mistake on my part. She said she was serious and why would she be kidding. I responded with something like "I do too! Now go to sleep! And I really do mean it!" And that's that.

 

Now here is where it gets really awkward. The next day aka yesterday I see her in school, I sit next to her in English and she didn't even acknowledge or speak to me like she USUALLY does on a daily basis. And she looked a little bit down today. I'm like okay it's whatever (she happens to be on her "period" btw). Later when I got home I texted her if she was okay because she didnt look too well in English. She didnt reply. I know i had to do something with it because she was her happy usual self around everyone else except me. Then I sent her a good night text saying that i hoped that everything was okay because it was bothering me that i probably might have said something wrong. No reply at all. At least I'm showing that I care, its quite cruel for her not to reply at all.

 

Today is the same thing, doesn't acknowledge or speak to me. I was thinking maybe I should give it some space until Monday or something and then talk to her in class, because I've already sent her two texts and not get a reply back. What could be the problem? Is it because I said I loved her too? Does she think we have a 'different' kind of love for each other? I think im overthinking this way too much, but this feeling is incredibly lame. What should i do? Just leave it be?
