is your sister strong enough to still do things with you? I'm asking because a friend of mine was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. She was really close to he sister, and they spent the remaining time that they had, as long as she felt able to, doing things that would leave happy memories for those she left behind. her sister still talks with a smile on her afce about the things they did, and how they got even closer than they were before.

when she found she was just too tired to do much anymore, she went into hospice. The staff there was really supportive of her and her family. They helped them through that difficult time They were absolutely wonderful, and even stayed in touch afterwards to make sure things were going okay.

I will know more about her condition when my other sister arrives at the hospital. I know her legs and feet are swollen and walking is extremely difficult. I suspect she won't be able to do much but, I will do whatever she wants to do. The anxiety I feel is awful but, I am being as proactive as I can.

Thank you for your support.

You can read to her, play music or just sit with her so she knows you're there...

I never imagined, when I first arrived on this forum, how you women would be supporting me through this tragedy. My other sister arrived at the hospital a few hours ago and she described my sister's condition as dire. I am now waiting for the people at the hospital to fax her prognosis to the hospice here so we can transfer her from the hospital to hospice. May God help us all.

that will mean so much to her right now. she'll have those she loves and who love her with her...

bailey...i know things are really tough for you right now...but remember...to be there for your sister, you have to also be there for yourself...take a few minutes each day to look after yourself so you can "recharge your batteries"...

I'm thinking of you and your family going through all of this, and sending positive thoughts your way...

like lostinlife4now said, people here care about you and we want to be here for you when you need us...you have a "safe harbor" here

Thank you, sprouts. My heart I so heavy right now....thankfully I have wonderful friends who are taking care of me while I figure out how to take care of my sisters. My sick sister (M) asked my other sister (K) to stay with her through this fight she intends to wage. My contribution will be to continue to work hard so I can help both of them with their financial obligations. I am making the trip to see both of them on Sunday. I will fill the refrigerator so they will have food.....I bought a prepaid gift card and loaded it with money for gas, etc. Meanwhile, my friends care for me. I was resting in bed yesterday

After a trying day at work and heard one of my closest friends calling from the kitchen. There she was with dinner.....meatloaf, mashed potatoes, broccoli.

I have good friends......all over the world now!

I'm so glad that your friends are there to support you through this. They sound like a very caring bunch.

I'm also glad that you and your sisters have come up with a plan so that someone will always be there for your sister when she needs someone. It sounds like you have really pulled together, and i think that is wonderful.

hang in there

My sister went through a very painful divorce a few years ago and I invited her to live with me while she recovered from the pain of the end of her 20 year marriage. Everyday when I arrived home from work there was another project she had done for me around the house........cleaning my stove, tidying up a closet, cleaning up dog poop in the yard, giving my dog a bath. Her life has not been easy.....our father deserted both of my sisters when they were very young......but, she is a loving sister.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your sister and family.

I lost my father to cancer, sadly and two aunts. It's not easy to go through but it make such a difference to have good friends, family and online support to help get one deal with it all. Hugs.

Thank you for your continued concern. I traveled to M's city to spend the day with her and K. M is very, very sick(her skin is yellow, her abdomen is distended, and her legs and feet are swollen to twice their size) but, her attitude is great. She is determined that she is going to fight this cancer until her dying breath. And K is showing me a side of her that I never knew existed. She is being so strong and is really taking control of things. M cannot walk very well so K and I went shopping. We bought all kinds of high calorie food for M and a water filter(she has to drink lots of water and the tap water where she lives is not very palatable). I have to tell you that M made both of us laugh hysterically. She was sitting on the couch with her legs propped on the coffee table and in this high-pitched voice she said " I look like a cabbage patch doll!!" Please pray for her. I have some spiritual concerns about praying for miracles but, if you don't, I would not mind if you might ask for a miracle or two.

not spiritual myself, but I am sending positive thoughts to your sisters and you as well. I'm sure this is not an easy time for any of you.

It's sounds like you and your sisters are really pulling together to help each other through a tough time. M sounds like one tough cookie, and it is certainly doing her so much good to have the two of you with her right now. have the three of you always been close?

Thank you for your prayers. I have always thought it is wrong to pray for miracles....if we believe in an all knowing God, how can we ask him to change the course of events? I appreciate yours, though.

Have we always been close? I have always been close to M and I have always been close to K but, they have never been close. That is why it is so inspiring to me that K has really stepped up and taken over. I think it might be because she knows I can't.....I am a commissioned sales rep which means no sales, no income. K was recently laid off so I will help her with her bills while she cares for M.

it's probably really good for your sister to see the three of you coming together like this...i expect it brings her s measure of peace
