Hey Guys,

I haven't been here for a while. I just popped in and thought i may as well ask the question that has been on my mind lately.

Basically, there is a guy who has an online presence, but who I don't know at all. I don't have his personal email or anything like that. But I think he could be a good match and I just want to get his attention. If he isn't interested that's fine, but I think it is worth trying to find out one way or the other.

I asked a couple of guy friends, and they both said I should taken a couple of sexy photos (nothing sleazy or with nudity IMO ), and send them to him.

Because he is popular I don't know which of his portals are clogged with messages. I tried sending a message through facebook, replying to a few of his tweets, and writing in the chat during his online web show. But I don't think any of that was noticed and I don't want to give up until I know my message has been received.

I am planning to print a tank top with his online name and take the photos wearing that. And if I were to send them, I would be including a well thought out letter, again nothing sleazy, and no big love declarations, just an expression of romantic interest. I also wrote to his feedback page on his website about some improvements to the website, and asked if it would be possible to get a message to him through there.

Below is the response I got, with any reference to the site or him starred out.

"Thanks for letting us know that you're satisfied to the changes! Any message you send here will be seen by one of the mods (most likely myself) before ****. I'll then review your message, and decide what the proper response is, to respond myself, to send to the whole **** crew, or send to ****.

<3 Jeeves of ****"

What do you think? Is this my best course of action? Or is there another course of action I should be taking?

Could you say you're chasing a fantasy here, or do you know this guy in any way outside of his online presence? I just fear that you may only think you know him and the real person may be completely different.

That said, if you're clear in your head and heart about what you're doing and that it may or may not work out, then have some fun and go for it. Personally I really don't know what would work best to get someones attention when it's only online. All you can do is send emails and post on social networking, but like you say, he may already have enough of those.

Just remember though that when you send pictures of yourself to people or post them online, you are pretty much leaving yourself open to be viewed by the entire world. So be careful what you send.

Thanks Smudge,

You are right about the sending photos thing. That's why I would never send any photo that was in any way indecent. I don't upload photos that i wouldn't be happy having as an avatar.

As with life, it is often impossible to know if someone is who they appear to be, until we actually get to know them. I realise this and accept it. But I still would like to meet someone who would be a good match for me. What interests me about this guy is that we have quite a few similar interests. From that perspective I think we would probably get along, at least in friendship terms. He isn't that attractive, so from that perspective, I don't think I am looking outside my league.

I really think my desire to make contact is out of the desire to not let an opportunity slip by. It is virtually non existent for me to find someone who shares many common interests with me, so from that perspective alone I think it is worth at least going "Hey I'm over here, are you interested?" The pessimist in me says "no", the optimist answers "no harm in trying".

Yeah like I said, aslong as you know what you're doing (and you sound like you do) then go for it. Don't let what could be something good slip by.

Oh and try to be like me, an optimistic pessimist... or is it pessimistic optimist...
