From what I read about it, the movie begins with a woman telling her husband she slept with another guy and wants a divorce. So her husband is devasted and the rest of the movie is about him doing what he can to try to win her back (one of his tactics is to go womanizing to make her jealous and want to come back to him.)

I don't get this modern view of cheating, so now the person who is cheated on is the one who did something wrong and should be trying to win the cheater back?

Of couse affairs often are the sign of a broken marriage and both parties could be at fault for that, but in my opinion I don't think it's healthy to promote the notion that there are other ways to solve communication and marital problems then doing the extreme by cheating.

I read the plot on wikipedia.com....I guess it seems like the movie is out to make the husband who is cheated on out to be a schmuck who didn't "communicate" to his wife, so his wife was justified to cheat on him.

WTH?

Has anyone here been cheated on? Because this notion is not safe if we are going to start blaming the people who were cheated on and not the cheaters.

I saw the movie and actually loved it! It was hilarious, while still being kind of touching at times, and the cast was just fantastic. I don't think the plot is as simple as what you've surmised here...the cheating wife is not necessarily made out to be the victim. But relationship politics aside, I'd recommend the movie for sure.

As for your question, my ex did not actually cheat on me, but the intent was there...and that was enough for me to say "adios."

Would it be different in the context of an established marriage with kids and all? Possibly, but for me, not likely. I don't think I could ever get past that level of infidelity.

Thanks, I was thinking of seeing it tomorrow but I probably shouldn't have read it all on wikipedia first.

I'm kind of sensitive to cheating in marriages.
