First they break up, THEN they get married....

EVER seen this happen?

 

 

A couple, breaks up, it's over, finito, they're moving on....then put on the breaks, you hear their engagement announcement.

 

HOW does this happen, WHY does this happen...and chances are, IF they get married....how long will it last? Esp, in THIS situation.

 

Okay, ever hear of EXTREME ridiculousness such as this?

 

I HAVE heard this happening.

 

Recently, a friend of mine who has been dating his g/f for years, been living with her for a while, one day shows up and tells me they've broken up (and yes, still living together)

 

One day, poof, I see some kind of engagement announcement, actually a full page dedicated....to their wedding date.

 

That being said, I have seen this happen before.

 

I have knowna couple instances this to happen, I knew of a female friend that broke up with her boyfriend, started dating other men.....and then, one day, the boyfriend proposes marriage.

 

They don't just "Get back together"

 

But they go ALL out, and do this?

 

Please explain to me the psychology behind this??

After dating for a while one or both of them thinks they can do better for themselves. So they break up.

 

Then they see what's out there and realize that what they had was pretty good. So they seal the deal "forever".

 

In short it is probably a reaction to the prospect of being alone.

 

How long will it last. 50% of marriages these days don't make the 7 year mark. If they get past that hurdle then they will last. It will likely be a matter of years even if it is "short".

Classic 'get him to commit' ploy. Take away the cow and he has to walk to the store to buy milk.
