Mark1 Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 What the best way to break the ice in a situation in which people do not normally meet? For example, I have no problem doing so in a bar or at a party, when people expect conversation. I work at my schools library, and the past few days a very cute girl has come in and done some work on a computer. Today, she came in, smiled and said hello to me as Im sitting at my desk. How can I start a convo while Im at the front desk and she's on a computer working, w/o being a creep?
Author Mark1 Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 I'm considering going up to her as she leaves and just saying, "Hey Ive noticed you here the past couple of days, Im [name] blah blah" Im guessing her smiling/saying hi is a good sign? Can i say, in my intro, "and I noticed you...youre very pretty" ?
antinko Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I tend to leave physical comments until later, but that's just me. Showing interest in them and saying hi is fine, though. You may have an advantage meeting in a library instead of a bar or party: you both clearly have a shared interest.
Author Mark1 Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 I did it! We talked for a good 5-7 minutes, and she was very nice. We have the same major etc, and she asked things about me. Afterwards he said, "thanks for coming to say hello!" Problem: Ring on her finger. What to do.
Author Mark1 Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 DAMN IT, her FB pic is of her wedding. FML.
Author Mark1 Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 I just dont get why shed glance over and smile all the time, and be interested in talking to me the way she had if she was taken.
