jfairmont Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Ok, so there is this guy I like and we have been seeing each other a lot lately, b/c he is my tutor. We flirted with each other incessantly and talked about everything and anything. I felt so comfortable with him. He used to tap his knee against mine and "accidentally" touch my arm. He listened intently to everything I said. Remembered things i said from weeks before. He walked to the bus stop with me and we hugged after every time we departed. So, I told him I would like to go out with him sometime. AND of course he has a girlfriend. He said , Other wise i would go out with you. And then he said, but who knows what the future holds. I am just so confused about why would he lead me on like that? Did he want to boost his ego? Is he unhappy with his current girlfriend? Why do men do those kind of things?
carhill Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Why do men do those kind of things? Some men do them for the same reason some women do. Because they can. It's easy to take apparent 'risks' when one has a sure thing at home. I saw this a lot with MW's. Blatant physical, sexual and emotional advances. Oops, married, sorry, well, but maybe someday. LOL. Children sometimes never grow up. That's about it. Good luck.
youaretheone Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Maybe he is not happy with his girlfriend and looking for a branch to hold on to before letting her go. But it does not mean that you should be the branch who should jump in his arms to help him leave the other.
Dust Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 He may think of his relationship as a place holder relationship. That means he’ll be in that relationship till he has another sure thing and jumps ship for that. This would mean he is not the type of person you should date because he’ll end up doing the same thing with you. It could be that he’s just an awkward guy that says and does rude things. Maybe he is grooming you to be a secret girlfriend.
thatone Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Did he want to boost his ego? Is he unhappy with his current girlfriend? Why do men do those kind of things? yes, maybe, for sport. you decide if it's worth hanging around for the 'maybe'.
shadowofman Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 People often do things because they feel good. Doesn't have to do with things like ego. He may be completely happy or at least content in his current relationship, but the interactions with you still felt good. Simple is simple.
oaks Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Ok, so there is this guy I like and we have been seeing each other a lot lately, b/c he is my tutor. Even if he was single, would it really be appropriate for you to date your tutor? (I suppose it depends what sort of tutor and in what environment, but be careful here.)
