classof2014 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Here are some stereytypes about men/women in the media: How true are these? 1. Men are useless ogres that only care about sex 2. Women control most relationships 3. Women feel misandry towards men. How true are these in your life?
Mad Max Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 1. Men are useless ogres that only care about sex Couldn't be more false. 2. Women control most relationships Depends. Whoever cares the least controls the relationship. 3. Women feel misandry towards men. Some do, most probably don't.
melodymatters Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 It's not often, but I agree with the OTHER MM pretty much 100% on this one !

I rarely laugh at that crap. Characters I find funny are like Cartman, Bender, and George Costanza.
AverageJoe Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Modern day media does nothing but disparage men. Just look at some of the commercials today that degrade men and portray them in the image of being pussys or complete morons. The media has the pussification of men in full swing. Women have daytime tv, all day until about five pm. Even after that you get primetime programs that dont do much to cater to the demographic of men specifically. We get NFL sundays and sports center, thats about it. What ever happend to The Man Show? Now that was geared towards men, however it wasnt on network TV you had to have cable for that. It has gotten completely rediculous and to the point I watch very little primetime television because now everything is family friendly or a spin off of that goddamn vampire movie. Are you kidding me? Holy hell any man that went to see that movie(s) should have their man card revoked immediatly. Fat ups guy marries hot brunette girl and portrayed as a complete moron and what she says, goes! Just one example. Yeah there is certainly media bias towards men in complete fashion and I didnt even touch on print media.
yah Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 1. Men are useless ogres that only care about sex 2. Women control most relationships 3. Women feel misandry towards men. 1. No, maybe some but luckily I've never met any. 2. I don't think I control the relationship but SO definitely lets me have my way most of the time. I don't take it for granted though. 3. Really?
Eclypse Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Homer Simpson is actually an interesting character. He was portrayed to fit numerous stereotypes: Fat, lazy, unintelligent, stuck in a dead end job. However he does have a lot of heart and in every episode he ends up coming through for his family and doing everything he possibly can to make them feel better. Examples include getting a night job after buying Lisa a pony, and quitting his dream job with Mr Scorpio that he is finally good at to go back home to springfield because his family hates the town they've moved to. He says and does stupid things, but there can be no doubting he loves his family more than anything and that is the most important thing. We need more men like that.
Woggle Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 One is false but the other two are most certainly true.
