Serenitynow Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I will never understand this. I will look at a womans profile on the dating site. I send her an email. Then she looks at my profile and either responds or doesnt respond. The crazy thing I dont get, is when she lives 10 mins from me, and she never viewed me all these months, until I send her an email. This has repeated itself over and over countless times. What is the point of people even being on a dating site if they arent even proactive in their search? Do women just sit there and read email, and never even look around to see whats out there?
Arasae Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Do women just sit there and read email, and never even look around to see whats out there? Pretty much. Men hunt, women are pursued. That's what we're taught for the most part--and I would, frankly, rather go out with a guy who pro-actively sought me out (because it means that I KNOW he's interested) than a guy I messaged first, because far too often when I HAVE done that, they've been merely polite and brushed me to the side. With the sheer number of e-mails I think many women receive, their time is probably better spent responding than seeking. But, that's just my humble opinion. I can be wrong.
Author Serenitynow Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 (because it means that I KNOW he's interested) Most of the time it means he just wants to hit it n quit it. So that line of thnking really gets you nowhere. when I HAVE done that, they've been merely polite and brushed me to the side. So its ok for you brush guys off when they make unwanted advances, but dont ever put yourself out there for rejection.

Actually, no, I only respond to men who have taken the time to read my lengthy profile and have said something original, intelligent, and insightful, so I still weed those men out. So its ok for you brush guys off when they make unwanted advances, but dont ever put yourself out there for rejection. Lack of time means that no, I don't seek men out online--I'll seek them out in person and put myself out there face to face. That, by the way, stings more, but hey, it's worth it.

It's just how things are.
Author Serenitynow Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 Seriously... my sister gets 5 messages a day! A Day! She can't keep up with all the guys. It's just how things are. No one is forcing her to spend all her time on email. She is choosing to sit there, and let the guys come to her, instead of being proactive in her search.
CrestfallenNoMore Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) I don't write guys for two reasons. 1. I'm only going to be attractive to a small population of men (I'm very tall, don't want children, and don't want to date men with children), so it's best to let the type of guy who is looking for someone like me to approach me. I find that when I write first, I often get ignored (yeah, I know, welcome to a guy's world...) 2. I've never, ever, never, ever, never had a date turn into a relationship where I was the one who initiated contact. Anecdotal evidence to be sure, but it's formed the basis for why I don't write men.
