MissVegas Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Short story: Guy and girl date for four years, know each others family, know of each others friends, go on vacations together and have like 200 pics on facebook tagged of each other on vacations. Girlfriend finds out that Boyfriend made his relationship status of "In a relationship" only visible to her all of a sudden and nobody else can see any relationship status whatsoever. As well he hides his friends list from anyone being able to see his friends. He keeps the million tagged photos though and wall posts from girlfriend on his page visible. Messed up or not?

FB changes its personal privacy options from time to time, and it takes some users longer than others to hear about it or figure it out. Once you go on the FB privacy settings page, there are lots of boxes to check or uncheck. Also, many people, self included, consider relationship status not something they want to broadcast out to lots of folks like a picture of a beach trip. Absent more signs of something wrong, wouldn't lose sleep over this.

Knittress Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Facebook is one of those things that hasn't been around long enough to have an ingrained social meaning behind it- some people update their every breath on facebook, loads of others are suspicious about telling big brother more than they have to. I know plenty of folks in legit moving-in-together relationships that just want to keep their personal life off the internet. PSA: Everyone please stop reading so much into facebook.
Author MissVegas Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 i noticed his friend list was hidden so i asked a girl to check if it was hidden for her too and then she said yes then i said it was in a relationship right? and she said no, it says nothing. then i asked some other people. the only person it says in a relationship to is me.
