I figured a thread like this might help shine some light on finding a quality partner.

I like a woman who can make me hopeful about the world. A woman who is always moving forward, rarely ever gets stuck in a rut, and somehow rolls with the punches. An attitude that says I'm going to rock this world. I find this type of personality very sexy and healthy LTR material.

'We'll work it out, together'

Honesty and the ability to communicate efficiently.

Posted

A woman who is clear about what she wants in a relationship and clear about expressing her needs and wants.

Must be happy in her own skin. No tatts. I can't abide religiosity. I'd can't abide animals in my domicile. She can have a barn if she wants. Must be in touch with her body and how to TAKE her own fulfillment using me as her big pulsating pleasure toy. Must like to give and get head. Prefer a Democrat--no, make that a requirement, I couldn't abide a Republican.

Absolutely required.

Honesty and the ability to communicate efficiently.

mmmm, don't have anything without honesty.

Good one.

hampton roads is full of ink and republicans. Shouldn't judge based on that... but our governor is rep and went to school under Pat Robinson :( Party affiliation doesn't bother me but ignorance sure does.

Honesty, intelligence, honesty, funny, honesty, caring soul, honesty, oh and did I mention honesty? Someone who has the same boundaries of privacy within the relationship as I do. I don't really want to hear "But he's only a friend!" ever again, with 'that' look in her eyes. Had enough of those horse feathers.

Independence.

Flexibility.

Intelligence.

Strong desire to explore life from different perspectives.

Gives me space.

Non-smoker.

Unpretentious.

A man who wants a committed, long-term relationship and has the emotional maturity to make it great.

Wow, you realize you've ruled out a large number of people with the no tatts and the animals thing? Those are kinda superficial, don't you think?

He could always keep an animal outdoors in a cage or enclosure; he didn't say he wouldn't accept pets, but that they can't be indoors. It's okay to prefer no tattoos too. It's just a preference, like being attracted to people with black eyes or nice legs.

I know. It just seems so arbitrary.

I like men with blue eyes, but I don't consider that a key trait for LTR material.

I get the pets thing more, i once went out with a guy who was super alergic to cats, so we kinda broke it off, because I like my cats, their furry mouse and bird killing ninjas.

To me, LTR traits would be something more like Stability, Humor, Spiritual, Patient . . . deep rooted personality traits that really can't be masked or made or picked up.

Or erased with a few laser treatments.

No. These are basic likes and dislikes that matter over time. I'm not saying that love couldn't happen to make me soften on these points. But I surely don't care if I'm ruling out a lot of women. We all rule out people on a daily basis. I simply don't want animals and that won't change. I can live with someone who is ignorant of politics but not someone who is diametrically opposed to my world view. It just will grate and result in loss of respect--love won't be that far behind. Tatts gall me. I despise that. I watched the competition for the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader squad the other night. Tattoos got otherwise beautiful and talented women rejected out of hand. It's not just me apparently. And I'm fully anti-theist much less atheist. Mao was right even though he was wrong about other things--religion is poison. It won't work to have someone who keeps giving me religious double talk all the time. F__k that noise.

I want a man that is going to take care of all my financial needs.

I don't even want to "think" about money.

I want what seems impossible: A man who's not afraid of conflict.

Any man who says to me "I love you and want to be with you for a long time; BUT, should my feelings ever start to change, I'll have the balls to tell you so we can sit down and talk about it," is the man I'll consider marrying.

Apart from that:

Intelligent

Self-aware

Financially responsible with whatever income he makes

Kind

Agreed with bolded. I am SO sick of men who completely avoid conflict.

I like a woman who can smile at me... tell me about her day and connect on an intellectual level - where her and I can listen to eachother and enjoy the conversation... even in silence. :)

Agreed! One of the things I adore about my SO is that he definitely never avoids conflict. He prefers to resolve misunderstandings whenever they come up, even if it's at 4 A.M.

I also want a man who is highly physically affectionate. I like holding hands, hugging, random touches etc... in public or otherwise. I am bored to death of men who just talk with barely anything physical unless it's leading to sex. I can talk to my friends, parents, co-workers... I want physical affection.

There are plenty of women out there who are NOT fans of PDA... or Public OR Private...

..you need to communicate and express this subtly. If he's not physically affectionate... if he's worth it, help him work on it. Otherwise... move on and let ihm down easy if that's that important to you.
