pretty14u Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 And the guy you've been talking to/dealing with including relations forgets, and even after he remembers does nothing. Not even the words happy birthday. I am truly offended. Am I overreacting?
USMCHokie Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Uh...you're just 'talking with' him...? Why do you feel that he's obligated to do something for your birthday? Are you even dating...?
Author pretty14u Posted September 30, 2010 Author Posted September 30, 2010 ^^^ There was more going on than talking. Clearly I am not speaking about a stranger but rather someone I had considered close. I am fully aware that no one owes me anything or is obligated to do anything. If he had picked a daffodill out of the grass on a sidewalk and said happy birthday I would have been content with that. It's the thought that counts.
yah Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I don't know what 'dealing with' means but I think you should expect a 'Happy Birthday' if you've told him it was your birthday. Even a stranger would do that. Otherwise, unless you were both 'dealing with' each other with the intention of entering a relationship, I don't think he's obligated to do anything else.
D-Lish Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 So... You're sleeping with him, he knew it was your b-day, and "couldn't be bothered"? Why the F%^K would you be bothered with him?
Confusedalways Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I'd be upset... just acknowledging my birthday would be nice. "Happy Birthday" and be done with it-- not even those 2 words would really make me unhappy.

If someone knew it was my birthday and didn't at least say "Happy Birthday," I'd be a little irked. And if it was a guy I was talking to/dating/sleeping with, I'd move on immediately. But birthdays are a big deal to me.
USMCHokie Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 But birthdays are a big deal to me. I don't forget dates... Now that I think about it, yes, if he had reason to know it was your birthday, then a simple happy birthday would have been in order. But that's only if you told him. Assuming he'd read it on your FB profile doesn't count...
runner Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 This. If someone knew it was my birthday and didn't at least say "Happy Birthday," I'd be a little irked. And if it was a [girl] I was talking to/dating/sleeping with, I'd move on immediately. But birthdays are a big deal to me. this actually happened to me just this year. and frankly i'm still pissed about it considering how much i thought about her c'est la vie.
