Confusedalways Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I'm so irritated. I understand that a lot of guys don't like to email first and whatever in online dating and I totally feel the frustration. I have started the conversation with a few guys in online dating and each time we've gotten to the phone and whatever else and it basically ended on one of our parts. Anyway, to be totally honest I am really sick of messaging guys when they might not have mutual interest, so I took the pansy girly way and "winked" at this guy. Well he "winked" back. WTF? Why wouldn't he just message me? Am I supposed to start the conversation now? I was truthfully trying to avoid being the first messenger because I am ALWAYS first and it NEVER works out. Anyway I'm obviously going to have to message him now, but I don't understand why he didn't just message me. Does it mean anything that he chose to wink rather than message? Am I totally over analyzing?
welikeincrowds Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 "Dude, I'm gonna wink back at this girl, I bet it's totally going to piss her off."
USMCHokie Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Whenever I used to get winked at, the first thing I'd do is do a naked happy dance. But seriously though, the most logical explanation for the double wink is that he isn't a paying member, so he is limited to winking back...
jerbear Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Not a paying member and playing it safe. winking is safe and shows a mild interests. Emailing is best, also the most risky and requires a subscription. As a guy if I get a wink and I'm interested I'll write back.
Jenna1970 Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 In my profile it says "Winks won't be taken seriously. You're a grown man...use your words." Guys who email say they love it.
TouchedByViolet Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Reading your thread title I pictured a guy and you winking at each other in person not some silly online thing haha You mentioned you are ALWAYS the first messenger... this means you are going for the super hot guys that have many options. Most girls get hit on by many many guys online... you always being the first messenger doesn't make sense to me
Star Gazer Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 "Dude, I'm gonna wink back at this girl, I bet it's totally going to piss her off." A friend of mine does that! I was just with him the other day, he was checking his Match account on his phone, and he said, "Oh look at this one, Star, she's a cutie... I'll wink back." I said, "No, be a man, message her." And he said, "Nah, this will ruffle her feathers and get under her skin better. Just you watch." I went: And then the girl emailed him the next day! Apparently it's not the first time either...

People who I'm interested in never mail me first. The guys I'm messaging are 6s or 7s on the looks scale, not unattainable in my opinion.
sanskrit Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I don't wink or respond to winks, many online daters don't, so you are lucky that he even responded.

Pfiend101 Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 ;);) lol. I would suggest sending him an email. What do you have to lose? Im on OKC. I cant tell you how many emails I've sent and not gotten a response. Then the ones who respond never end up meeting up most the time and are just looking for penpals. I just got a girls phone number and she picked up when I called. /GASP haha Keep your head up
BobSacamento Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Uh these are total strangers...strap on a pair and face the rejection. Not emailing will only result in a reduced chance of actually making a connection.
