I joined a local match making company called Singles Plus about 2 weeks ago and Im supposed to pay about $60 a month for 18 months and I get 5 introductions (or matches). Apparently you get a "loan" through this company called The Universal Group aka Universal Guardian Acceptance. They got my personal information and asked them if I cancel my service would I still have to pay this "loan" and they said that I cannot cancel since I signed a contract and even if I no longer wanted the services of the Singles Plus matchmaking company. I just want to know do all matchmaking companies do this? Does anyone have any experience with matchmaking companies? Did it work out for you or was it a waste of time?

Yikes, you will pay $900 dollars for five matches. You could meet a whole lot more people via eharmony, match, or even the free sites (Ok Cupid & Plenty of Fish).

That's more than $150 per person. Pure insanity. I'd raise holy hell and threaten to call the Better Business Bureau & the newspapers and anybody who'd listen. Generally, businesses will settle with an angry and upset customer. Stand your ground.

I agree. Technically, you shouldn't have to pay to meet folks. (That's exploiting people's emotional needs to find someone). Unless you have like extenuating circumstances like you live in the middle of the ocean on a blip of an island. But if you're on terra firma it should be relatively easy to put yourself around a lot of available people, in person even- for free. Heck even eHarmony advertises on TV when they have upcoming "Free Communication" weekends. Not sure what that entails though.

Try to get back that money!!! That matchmaker program just doesn't quite seem on the up & up. If anything take 1/5 that money and apply it to cute/sexy date clothes & save the rest.
