I'm feeling good and excited about the prospect of dating again, so I signed up for an online dating site. I've recently been doing some fall shopping and my style ranges from edgy and sexy (over the knee boots, caged stilettos, leather look leggings) to very feminine (ruffles, florals, vintage pieces, dresses, classic pumps), to casual (jeans and a sweater or t shirt). With all my purchases got me wondering what the best look is for a first date. What do you think?
Rorschach Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 'nice' I dress nicely, button down 'business casual' shirt wearing slacks or dress pants, black socks with loafers. While I wouldn't mind if somebody showed up dressed completely casual, or dressed to the nines (it certainly wouldn't be strike against them) I like people to dress in a way that says 'this was important enough that I put some thought into what I was going to wear, but I'm not uptight about it' So I dress like this and I'm looking for a female equivalent that is just as nice but not over the top http://www.middlesexcc.edu/career/images//Business%20casual%20-%20male4.jpg

She'll be attractive to me in whatever she wears...
confused192 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Sorry, I know you directed the question to guys but I would like to input something if you don't mind:) I would recommend dressing in something that plays up what you feel are your best features. I personally feel I have a nice neck/shoulders and a nice booty:o so I typically wear a casual but tight fitting tank top that shows off my neck and shoulders as well as my favorite pair of jeans or a skirt. I've had girls roll up in the sexiest little dresses and high heels who then spend the entire date making sure the dress is pulled far enough down to cover her modesty and who bemoans the heels every time she stands up (to fix aforementioned dress!).. not exactly the easiest way to conduct a flowing 'get to know you' evening!.. if you're showing your pics online, well he has to have seen you so you're style at the time is probably an attractive quality to him.. Girl I'm dating at the moment has the best legs I've ever seen, coupled with some really kick ass mirrored tattoo's along the back on them. Now I'm not a leg fetish guy or really care much for tattoo's, but these just look awesome and I haven't been able to get them out of my head, that and some half cut leg boots and a flowing dress = Gold.

I have had first dates where the ladies looked fine and appropriate only to pick them up a second or third time to find them dressed in some ethnic monstrosity. One was really cute--really, really, really cute. And I looked forward to showing her off to my friends at an annual barbecue. I picked her up and she was dressed in this gypsy-looking thing with a belt with a huge fake ruby in the back that was as big as a door knob. She complicated things even more by using RED eye shadow. She looked like a third world hooker. To say I was uneased by taking her to the party was an understatement. So, bottom line? W/e tips me off the quickest to fashion ineptness.
