Lishy Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I met this guy last week who I knew years ago but had not seen for 20 years ... we really hit it off and we arranged to meet Sunday (today) for lunch. He rang me last week to ask me to meet up and I agreed and he said on Monday that he would call me in the week to arrange it. He seemed really keen It is now Sunday (9am) and I have not heard from him, I am not overly bothered but I was wondering if it is acceptable for a guy to call on the day of the date to make arrangements?? In my eyes it isnt but I wanted your opinions Thanks
Author Lishy Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Is there anybody out there??? lol
Oxo Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I wouldn't accept that. From a boyfriend, yes. Date, no.
Author Lishy Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 I wouldn't accept that. From a boyfriend, yes. Date, no. Yeah I was thinking that too, I am gonna just make other plans I wonder why people do this? It is so easy just to send a text saying he cant make it or not make the plans to start with Lucky I am not that bothered
a_woman Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 it's only a lunch, it doesn't even sound like a date. Everybody eats lunch, the only thing he needs to tell you by about 11am is where to meet you. Life is much easier if you don't have a rigid attitude.
Author Lishy Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 I would text him and ask now... No I wont text him, I am not too bothered, I am used to flakey men and will not tolerate it anymore My time is valuable and I have made other plans now, he should have confirmed it yesterday or earlier today, it is now 11.30am Another one bites the dust lol

If it has been a week since she's talked to him, that is a problem. Perhaps he forgot or made other plans and didn't tell her. It wouldn't be smart to push aside other plans for a meeting that could or could not happen. Hell, even with my friends we confirm plans so that we can structure our days around it.

But why didn't YOU call or text yesterday to confirm?
Author Lishy Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Good for you. But why didn't YOU call or text yesterday to confirm? Because I dont do that hon, I am not acting like a princess but I have decided that chasing a guy never works and if they are interested they can let me know ... If they are not man enough to do that then they are simply not man enough for me!! I am quite happy being single at the mo so it will have to be that someone special who gets a look into my life

If I had been the one asking him out I would have called to confirm timing etc, but he made the move and he asked me out and chose the day so he should be the one confirming it, to me it is just manners and if he had wanted to see me enough he would have done that. He is just not that into me lol

Have a fun lunch!

In my eyes it isnt but I wanted your opinions Thanks FWIW, I think you did the right thing. As for calling the day of to make arrangements. Absolutely not. At least 2-3 days before. If I make plans prior to 2-3 days before, I usually send a text the day of to reconfirm.
sugarmomma Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Its called tact and consideration. After all, he made a lunch date with you and he hasn't forgotten. Some men purposely don't call to see if you will chase since there are a lot of desperate women out there chasing. You did the right thing and when he does call he will get vm. I am dealing with the same thing. He called and went to vm Friday night after he said he would call weds. I called him back yesterday morning and left a vm. he still hasn't returned the call. Oh well, next!
Author Lishy Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 I think if I live to be 120 I will never understand how mens minds work

bac Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) I had the same situation about the first date recently. I let it go with flow. So, he emailed me the address of restaurant and time of the meeting 1 hr before the event on Sunday. He either assumed that I was staring at my email box the entire Sunday waithing for the dinner or he assumed that I would miss the email and would not have time to get ready and come. I emailed him back that I could not make it. He emailed me back that I was a terrible woman. I was all in tears:) Edited September 19, 2010 by bac
