My Self-Summary

I moved to Chicago randomly for a job about 2 years ago, and of all the places I've lived, this is my favorite. I love the psychotic weather, the coleslaw on the side of everything, the practical, no-bull**** attitude of most of the people I've met. It's a wonderful place! I'm never leaving.

What I’m doing with my life

I am an actuary. From wikipedia: An actuary is a business professional who deals with the financial impact of risk and uncertainty. I love my job so much, I'd probably do it for free.

I’m really good at

-math

-flippy-cup

-goofing off and telling dirty jokes

The first things people usually notice about me

My laugh.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm a huge bookworm. All-time favorites include The Catcher in the Rye, God of Small Things, To Kill a Mockingbird, I am not Myself These Days, Me Talk Pretty One Day, The World According to Garp, Gone with the Wind.

I'll also indulge in chick lit and trashy personal memoir, and will occasionally force-feed myself an "educational" book on history or finance/ economics.

My all-time favorite bands are Radiohead, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles. Lately I've been listening to "mainstream indie" bands such as Arcade Fire, Wilco, Modest Mouse, and The National, as well as catching up on country which I only discovered this summer despite having spent 4 years in Texas. I also like classical music and listen to a decent bit of hip hop when I work out.

To watch me eat is to wonder why I'm not obese (it's because I work out like crazy!) In an effort to capture the title of Queen Taco, I put away 14 of them during a corporate Taco Bell eating competition. Men twice my size ate half as much and barfed!

I love all food except un-deveined shrimp. When I cook I try to steer toward healthy meals like stir-fry's, but I also go out for wings and beer at least once a week.

The six things I could never do without

-running

-music

-books

-my BAII Plus calculator

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I need to get done. I get a big kick out of being productive.

On a typical Friday night I am

Comatose after a week's worth of sleep deprivation.

I do my drinking on Thursdays and my adventuring Saturdays.

Although, this fall I signed up to volunteer at a soup kitchen Friday nights, so my vegging might be coming to an end.

You should message me if

You value some of the things that I do:

-loyalty

-honesty

-ambition/ success

-spirituality

-humor

The soup kitchen thing is a nice touch.

;)

chicks dig the whole selfless charity thing.

Good job!

Whoa. A+. I instinctively started looking around for the "message her right the **** now" button.

It also strikes me as very accessible. I feel that I'm a pretty unique mix of traits, and because of this I have specific things I'm looking for -- and I was sold on your profile, but not for a particular reason. Because of this, I have a feeling that your profile is going to attract most people that look at it.

That may be a good or annoying thing -- attraction is a(n easy) game; finding your ~*^soulmate^*~ is much harder. You may find that you have to throw some curveballs somewhere in there to narrow your audience.

Edit: actually, on second read, your profile is plenty eccentric. It's perfect to me. Have fun!

Nice! It's great that you love your job and seem like a really active person. Your profile feels very real and gives a pretty good sense of who you are, weeding out people who you wouldn't be compatible with in the first place.

...although you pretty much had me when you mentioned that you listen to Arcade Fire.

spookie's a chick, too, so if she's thinking of switching teams, then that should work out well for her... :D (Actually, that's kinda hot, now that I think about it...)

So am I the only other math geek here who sees four things listed under the six things you can't do without? Or is that a subtle joke?

Hey, spook - did you know there are only 10 types of people in the world? Those who understand binary math, and those who don't...

I must have seriously over-estimated how good-looking I am, cause i've only gotten 3 messages so far! All short and creepy from guys I absolutley have no interest in.

Yes, that must be it. It couldn't possibly be that it takes time for people to search for and find new profiles. And it doesn't take any time to think up a good email.

RELAX!!!

So what you're saying is that so far it's really no different from Loveshack.

Spookie,

Online dating isn't a panacea, it still takes time. I saw your profile. You're a cute girl and definitely seem fun/interesting. I would certainly take some time to message you (if I wasn't half way across the country and with gf).

Spookie, I have gotten best results from messaging guys first. You find a hot/cute guy and you message him. It's free so there is nothing to lose. Most of the guys that message me are not my cup of tea and some are pretty creepy. It will also take a while. Be logged in and online a lot so that you show up at the top of the searches.

I think this is a great improvement over the first one. Open, and concise. I wouldn't write more. There aren't a lot of straight guys who are going to settle in and really read a woman's profile trying to get to know what makes her tick. "Who IS this girl anyway? I'm not going to let this go anywhere until I make sure we're deeply compatible. I'm going to need more hot chocolate for this one, she wrote a lot."

Chances are they'll check out your pictures, scan the bullet points, and move on. If they like your pictures they'll contact you regardless of whether your write-up lists a bunch of incompatibilities. So you can probably save yourself the trouble of thinking about what you left out.

I'm a huge bookworm.

Just a reminder: I wouldn't recommend you use the word "huge" to describe yourself.

Haha... I thought you were kidding.

From my pictures I am clearly not huge.
