nat_nat Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Hello! If you opened your desk drawer at work one day and found a post-it note saying 'you're lovely x' what would you think? Would it be a little creepy, would you think nothing of it, or would it make you feel good? I did it to a guy at work a while ago and checked in his drawer tonight and he's kept it! What do you think this means?! And I'm pretty sure he suspects me... !!

What do you think this means?! And I'm pretty sure he suspects me... !! I think that's supercute but I would want a name on that note, so I'd be certain it wasn't from the married, creepy boss or the slimy guy at the opposite end of the corridor... I don't really get your last sentence/sad face - if you like this guy you would want him to suspect you, right?? or is this part of some larger strategy?
Feelin Frisky Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 If the lady didn't sign it, I'd at least want her to gleam at me and wink or something. I would just hope it weren't a hose beast or sea donkey or something.
AverageJoe Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Maybe its a trick? I have a buddy that used to work on the other side of town and it wasnt often I got over that way. So one day I made my way over there and stopped off where he worked. If I try real hard I have a pensity for writing in cursive like a girl might. So I wrote a very seductive note, saying I had seen him around the business park and really liked what I saw. And a couple of other things I probably shouldnt post here. At the time I had a girlfriend, and she left some perfume in my car, and of course I dabbed a bit of it on the note. I didnt go inside, so I just tucked it up under his windshield wiper and left. He called me a few days later to tell me all about it and he was rather worked up. I just played along and could barely maintain my composure. I let it go about two weeks before I let him off the hook. It was a very long time before he would come by and have a beer with me after that..

It didn't occur to me that it could be a dirty trick much less a freak'n GUY. This reminds me of an incident at the pool at my gym. I was thinking about the flirty babe who I was really digging on and lost in thought, I stood in the water smiling and beaming. This apparently gay dude thought I was sending him signals and he started smiling at me. He did double takes every time I walked into the gym when he was there and he actually walked into another person on one occasion and a Bally's display on another gawking at yours truly Fellin' Frisky instead of watching where he was going. It was creepy. But I wouldn't be cruel to the guy and toy with his head on purpose. I just didn't make any eye contact. Yo, you're a dude, man.
Gallaxia Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Hey Nat nat, why do you imply sadness at the end? Because he hasn't directly responded by asking you if it was your note?
Star Gazer Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 If it happened at my office, I'd think it was a joke...but only because no one at my office would do such a thing, for a number of reasons. Now, if there was a cute guy here, I'd HOPE it was him and would probably ask him if he knew anything about it. *wink, wink*
Mad Max Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I'd be a bit confused as to why that happened. Odds are I'd have no clue who did it. To me, it sounds childish. I'd prefer someone start a conversation and see where it goes from there.
Imajerk17 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I thought we all outgrew passing notes by 10th grade. Woman up and go up and talk to him directly.
Stung Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 If the lady didn't sign it, I'd at least want her to gleam at me and wink or something. I would just hope it weren't a hose beast or sea donkey or something. If some kind of mythical sea donkey was hauling itself out of the ocean to grasp pen in flipper-hooves and let me know it thought I was a cutie, I would definitely be impressed.

threebyfate Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Anonymous notes, flowers and gifts bother me. Instead of doing this, why not try to get to know him better, flirting and paying direct compliments so he knows the source and if he's interested, he will ask you out. Of course you can also ask him out if it's your thing but if you're leaving anonymous notes, I would doubt it.
Feelin Frisky Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 It's flattering to have a secret admirer. But it would get creepy real soon if it were to happen more than once. I'd have to wonder if I'm being gamed. PS: Stung, I borrowed that term from Jamie Foxx in his role as "Bunns" in the hilarious movie "Booty Call". He talks about taking some strange girl home while drunk and waking up to find "a fckng sea donkey" in his bed.
Author nat_nat Posted August 28, 2010 Author Posted August 28, 2010 Hey Nat nat, why do you imply sadness at the end? Because he hasn't directly responded by asking you if it was your note? Well it's not so much sadness, more a bit of panic! I certainly don't want anything to happen while we both still work there, that WOULD be awkward. I will probably be leaving in March, so I'd like to see if something could happen when I left. And those that say 'woman up and speak to him', I do, everyday because it's such an open office so we all chat to each other all the time. It's just that it's impossible to flirt because of people constantly being around (And we all know what office gossip gets like!!) But our chat is just friendly and professional when it needs to be. That's why I wanted to let him know SOMEONE likes him. Plus, if he really thinks about the women working in office that day and who left early and who didn't, he would work out that it could only be me who left the note!
witabix Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I'd be frantic! What if they had found my porn stash, or my class A drugs and wicked knife collection or all the vampire memorabilia?

I don't think he's friendly enough with any of the guys like that to blame it on them as a joke though in this case! When you say he was 'worked up', does that mean he was quite excited / pleased or a bit scared?
Art_Critic Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 It's flattering to have a secret admirer. But it would get creepy real soon if it were to happen more than once. I'd have to wonder if I'm being gamed. I'd agree with that.. on a side note Opening a person's desk drawer and looking at the contents of the drawer at work is an invasion of privacy. OP.. do you not respect the privacy of your coworkers enough to not go thru their desk drawers ? This bothers me somewhat in the fashion that you may step over other boundary's over this crush and wind up with a mark on your work record... Are you sure he looked in his desk drawer ? I only look inside my drawers once or twice a week as most everything I need is on top of the desk.
Author nat_nat Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 He's definitely been in his drawer, I've heard him open it several times. And you don't understand what kind of office this is, none of us have personal things in our drawers, anyone will say 'yes use that, it's just in my drawer help yourself' or whatever! And I'm hardly rummaging through his stuff, just opening it, placing the note on top, and closing it again. I didn't even have time to notice what was in there!

It is commonplace to walk into each other's offices, look for stuff, and even use each other's computers. I suggest you leave the note issue behind. I think the note was perfect, by the way. You sent a small flirtation out there and now it's time to forget about it. Now the challenge is to see if the two of you could interact outside the office. Does your office ever have group happy hours or socializing?

You sent a small flirtation out there and now it's time to forget about it. Now the challenge is to see if the two of you could interact outside the office. Does your office ever have group happy hours or socializing? Well, if there's a major event (eg someone going on maternity leave etc) we all go out to lunch, but obviously it's just like a normal lunch, we eat and get back to work so there's no opportunities there! But since I started there, everyone has had a couple of nights out which I haven't attended because I live an hour from work, don't drive and would have difficulties going to and getting back. There was talk of a bowling night possibly being arranged soon, meal first, bowling and then a bit of a night out. I will try my best to get there!!
