Real question or digging for info?

I got set up on a date last night by my friend Tom. At first I thought I was just meeting a friend of a friend but I found out last minute it was actually going to be a date.

 

I didn't think the guy was that interested in me. I wasn't for sure I was interested, either, and was the one who suggested we end the date, because it seemed like he was tired and I had to work the next day, plus he lives far away.

 

So then today my friend Tom texted me around noon and asked, "So how did the evening go?" It seems like it is a fake text digging for information??? Because they have been lifelong best friends (so I felt like "as if" he wouldn't already know) - they even texted during the date because before the guy I was out with shut off his phone, he got a text and said, "Oh Tom says hi."

 

I haven't replied yet nor do I know how I should reply? I felt like replying "Like you don't already know." But I didn't...

Gosh, if Tom is your friend you should give him a call (not a text) and let him know how it really went.

I just don't like being indirectly plugged for info - it felt very high school, "Go ask her if she likes me."

 

I would say it's not that big a deal because I wasn't that interested. I replied to the text with a similar tome.

But if your friend Tom set you up on this date, I would think he would be remiss not to follow-up with you? Not high school at all.....Just my opinion. You're not getting pumped for information. Besides, who cares? Either it went well or it didn't. Just share the info with your friend.
