I met this guy online. He asked me out first, but we were too busy last week, so we ended up meeting for an hour and had yogurt. A very quick meeting, but it was fun. He is 12 yrs older than I am. I wasn't sure about meeting him at first due to the age gap (he is going through divorce and has two kids), but we surprisingly had a good flow of conversation.

He said he had a good time and asked me out again, but this time for dinner. I am seeing him tomorrow. Now, he is driving to my neighborhood since I don't have a car. He asked me to pick a restaurant for us. Specifically an italian restaurant. Well, I live in downtown, and things are not cheap.

I picked a restaurant where dishes are ranged from 15 to 20 bucks. I don't think it is outrageously expensive, but if he orders a drink or two, it may get expensive. I am not planning to drink btw.

The question.....am I supposed to pay for the dinner since I picked the place?

I need to lie and say im seperated, with kids so I can get a date. I guess being single with no baggage or drama just doesnt cut it anymore.

Why are you ever asking who pays? Are you seriously going to tell him that upfront? I doubt it. When he goes for the bill, you'll probably offer one time to pay, he'll say dont worry about it, and you'll say ok.

Come prepared, but let him pay. Don't worry about this while you are out, just have a good time.

Since equality is forever an issue with women, you should offer to pay 50% of the bill.

No. This is technically your first date. Yogurt and soda don't count. Please.

Maybe pay for valet parking if needed since you don't have a car. Maybe you are in the city and don't need a car? I'm not sure.

Have a drink - enjoy yourself. He has the pleasure of your company and your attention. Have fun. :)

Shoot - even entrees at The Olive Garden cost 12-20 bucks now.

$20 is not a big deal. If you dont drink then just pay $20.
