cloudsovernyc Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 So my friends keep calling me a girl and saying that I'm thinking really far into this, but I don't think It's the case. I'm getting frustrated because the girl I've been talking to for a few months now will only go as far as I go. When I say how I feel about her, she will just say the same thing back, she just doesent seem to have any real opinions of her own. I try to break out of the comfort zone and really communicate thoughts but she is like a brick wall and totally unreadable. She says she really likes me and she Is affectionate but will only copy what I do. In other words she wont try to grab my hand or talk to me unless I initiate it first. We hang out w friends a lot and my friends say I'm being the dumb one, just because we get along really well. But I don't want to be her friend so Wtf... I need advice, but keep in mind that in dating communication has its boundaries, especially early on. So you married people need to tone it down.
sbarrow47 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Try pulling back a little and see what she does. Or initiate things one day, and the next day back off completely. She could just be shy or passive about those type of things as well.
that girl Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 How old are you and how long have you been dating? She sounds shy, but if you've been dating 6 weeks or you're both still in high school that is different than if you're been dating 4 months and you're both in your 30s. I try to break out of the comfort zone and really communicate thoughts but she is like a brick wall and totally unreadable. What does this mean? At first glance, I don't agree with the pull back advice. She seems a little shy and you showing disinterest is likely to push her away. What I think is more likely to work is to say something like "I wish you would reach for my hand when we're out in public, I feel like I'm always the one reaching for you!"
Author cloudsovernyc Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 So I am turning 23 and she is 21. We've been dating for a couple months. About the brick wall thing, she's not very open to falling for a guy it seems.
