Is is typical for men at least age 40 to send just short responses to texts?

I am 40 and the guy i like is 40 We were supposed to meet for dinner tonight in my town. He called around 2:30pm EST and said he could not get here till tomorrow morning. No biggie. It is a 6.5 hour drive. He is coming half way tonight and after appts his tomorrow we are meeting for dinner tomorrow nite. His idea and I love it. Very excited to see him. I have a long work day Monday too.

Anyways, I sent him a post call text, 2+ hours later that saying..." Hey Ed! Take your time tomorrow. With my work sched. I cant get downtown until 6pm-ish p.s. It was great to hear your voice!, ;) Nice!!"

I wanted to let him know that couldn't meet him till, at least 6pm due to my work schedule tomorrow. The only reason I sent it was I know he was juggling his appts to meet me for dinner.

He replied back instantly "Ok".

I replied back, "Just call me as we had discussed tomorrow. Drive careful-- I look forward to seeing you!"

He replied back instantly, "Will do.".

I get the feeling he was driving or packing?

Any thoughts ?

Granted he may be driving by this point. Since it is 2 hours after his phone call.

I don't know about someone that age, but my boyfriend always sends me short text messages. They don't want to say anymore then they have to in texts.

My texts to him are usually 1-3 sentences long and his back are usually one word. XD

I have trouble texting back in the 160 character limit a lot of the time. I send and hope to receive a worthwhile text. It pisses me off when I get a text that's just one word.

Haha, yea, me, too.

I mean I like texting, but it's probably the most annoying form of communication because of the limits of it.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll hear from a 40-ish year old guy. Texting is fairly new to my age group.

I'd have to think a ~40 year old guy wouldn't text nearly as much as a teenager, as for as context and number of texts he sends.

Texting is one of the worst forms of communication. It's really not made for conversations, just quick spurts of info...

Texting isn't so much different from communicating through text period. It's just at a different rate. With the full-keyboard phones that most people have for texting now, it's basically like using AIM/Yahoo!/MSN etc.

Not in my opinion. On forums and on Instant Messengers, I usually type up much more and I feel it is easier to communicate that way. I can actually tell stories, while texts, I can only ask quick questions.
