spookie Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I am freaking out. I think I have herpes. My lips are covered in tiny pimples, and there's a weird mucousy growth on my chin. Like a really bad case of acne, just in one spot. I have never experienced anything like this before. I had an STD check recently but researching online, I am afraid testing for Herpes was not part of it, since apparently it's not standard. Since the virus is extremely contagious, the oral version transmittable not only through sex, and more than half the population of the US has it... it wouldn't be a stretch to think that I have it, too. The part that I'm freaking out about the most is.... I gave my bf a blowjob last night. At that point, there was just one little spot on my lip, and I wasn't putting two and two together. Now, I'm afraid I infected him with genital herpes. (Although, for what it's worth, it's just as likely HE gave it to ME.) What should I do? Should I call him and talk to him about this? Should I brace myself for a breakup?
Pyro Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Try to keep the freaking out in check until you go to the Doctors to have it confirmed or not. I wouldn't talk to your BF about it until after the results.
Pyro Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 yes you should go see a Doctor, otherwise you are going to freak out until you know for sure what it is.

I'm 99% sure its a cold sore, ie, likely herpes simplex 1. Almost everyone is infected with it. However, I'm concerned I've spread it to his genital area.

Given those stats, we were both probably already infected with it. The part I am worried about is that now he's going to get cold sores on his dcki. Let's pretend I went to a doc, and she said, yep, it's a cold sore. What do I do after that? Is a head's up in order?

Once a virus is in your blood, it has the potential to travel anywhere blood goes in your body. If it's just a cold sore, relax. You can get an STD check for peace of mind.

Author spookie Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 Cold sores don't show up there. Yes they do. They are highly contagious and the results look just like the "bad" herpes, hsv2.

Please play my game! If it turns out to be a cold sore, then I tell him what? "Remember the road head? I had a cold sore at the time.... fyi"?
Author spookie Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 I hate going to the doctor so much that 5 months after being diagnosed with a tumor in my thyroid, I've yet to see an endocrinologist. The whole process of finding the number, dialing it, making the appt, taking time off work to get there, remembering the appt, getting there on time, exhausts me before I even start it.

Would the endocrinologist know about cold sores? Tumor? The word tumor freaks me out. Please schedule an appointment with the endocrinologist! As to the cold sore, if you're worried, talk to your bf. I think you could give him the gentler version of what you accidently said in my thread. If it's herpes or contagious or whatever, you're going to have to deal with it together anyway.

You have tumor on your thyroid and have not followed up with your doctor? Wonderful! I would be more concerned about that than a cold sore. Listen, cupcake, there are many women out there and even on this board giving their men head and have HSV1 in their system. 90%of the population! You really really need to relax. HSV1 manifests on mucous membranes which is a lot more visible on women in their pubic area but not with men. It mostly manifest in the mouth. You won't see it on a man's penis.
Author spookie Posted July 24, 2010 Author Posted July 24, 2010 Making a doc appt about the tumor as we speak...... Whom I really should see, is a psychiatrist. Surely there is a condition for which pills are made that is disabling me from operating on the level of a 10 year old, organizationally.
