EyeAlone Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Random question that my friends and I were discussing today: would you date someone that physically resembles an ex that you dislike? When I say "resembles" I don't mean that they merely have the same hair color. I'm talking about someone who if you saw in your peripheral vision you would swear it was your ex. If they had a different personality from your ex, would you still date them? Or would it just be too much of a constant reminder and thus a turnoff?
Stung Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 If I was still hung up on the ex to the extent that it bothered me that this new person resembled them, I would definitely NOT date the new person, as it would be totally unfair to them. I would probably find it hard to distinguish my residual feelings from the feelings legitimately associated with the new person. If enough time had passed and I was totally over it and didn't think about them anymore or have any emotional associations with them, I would have no reason not to go for it.
counterman Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I wouldn't date someone that physically resembles my ex. I have met a few and, even though I am not hung up on my ex, it would just be too weird for me. Maybe years down the tack, but I can only speak about how I feel now.
