Over the last two months le BF has had no job and has been getting up late and staying up late, partying.

When I stay over we no longer go to bed together and have cuddles etc, he kisses me goodnight and goes off to party till the wee hours of the morning.

I've been unwell recently (for the last week or so) and last night I couldn't sleep so sat in his room for an hour before getting annoyed and packing my stuff to go home as I had work in 6 hours. I went downstairs, asked him if he minded me going home as I couldn't sleep. He got worried and apologised saying he'd come upstairs immediately, but I didn't want to spend any longer getting to sleep so I just left. He knew I was p'd off.

Basically I shoudl have gone downstairs earlier, said I couldn't sleep and asked for some cwtching before bed. But I feel whiny asking for this, and unfair as he doesn't have to get up early.

What can I do to make this a bit better?

I was behaving irrationally I think. Earlier on in the night (I'd gone over for dinner), I had to wash my hair before dinner as it was getting late. When I came down he'd eaten dinner already and I got annoyed he didn't tell me he was eating so I could have joined him.

Dur, I'm feeling like an idiot this morning....

From my perspective, he's acting like a dick and your reaction is justified.

I agree.

Yes, you stormed out on him, but he should not be acting the way he is.

Chances are he is depressed by the job situation and acting this way because of it.

Or he's just selfish and not thinking of anyone else but himself...

Most people get like that when they are depressed. He is just kind of wallowing in some self pity... I assume.

Note that he kind of snapped back to reality and apologized when she made it clear she was angry.

Hi girls/guys

Thanks for your replies.

Yep he did apologise, but he always apologises, promises he'll not do it again and then it happens the next night I stay over.

He texted today (about something irrelevant). I told him I thought he'd been selfish and insensitive. He agreed and said he wants to make it up to me. I tried to explain how I felt by saying if I'm going to be going to bed on my own/sleeping alone in bed most of the night, I'd rather be in my own house. I also apologised myself for storming out.

Then he tried to make inane conversation again and I said I wanted to talk properly after work.

I haven't heard from him since so I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

I dont know...is it selfish of her to expect him to come to bed early, and then have to sit around doing nothing while both his girlfriend and his friends are gone? It's a difficult situation all around, but I dont think either person is at fault. I suggest the OP discusses the situation with her boyfriend....maybe get him to tone it down a little.

Hmmm, yep this was bothering me a little - that it's mean to expect him to sit with me awake if he's not tired.

anyhoo, I've been over and we've had a chat - we came to the conclusion that it's difficult both sides of the coin. So what we're going to do is stay at mine in the week and his at the weekend.

Wow, who knew you could come to a compromise by sitting down and talking?;)
