Woggle Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 My wife and I stopped at a bar that happens to serve great food and we saw this couple playing pool and you can tell they truly loved each other. When you are as cynical as I am about gender relations you learn to spot fakeness very quickly and I could tell it was genuine with them. It seems that men and women pretty much hate each other these days so to see real love like that makes me feel that my wife and I are not the only ones.

Its a good thing!

Men and women don't hate each other. I think it'd help your perspective to observe more happy people instead of focusing on some of the bitterness here. That couple isn't the only happy couple, and there are plenty of them out there. I hate seeing couple together kissing and holding hands. It makes me sick. Public displays of affections should be outlawed like they are in Dubai. Oh FFS, do you guys really have to spew your bitterness and ruin every single freaking thread? Aren't there enough "I hate people because I'm lonely and bitter about it" threads? Grow up already.
Author Woggle Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 I hate seeing couple together kissing and holding hands. It makes me sick. I know there are others like us but it is something you rarely anymore these days.
Stung Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I see happy couples all the time, and I am one half of a happy couple myself. I'm glad you ocasionally see a happy couple to crack your cynicism, but I suspect there are more around you than you have noticed. Woggle, you know, sometimes people see what they expect to see, they focus only on certain things and filter the rest. If that's not the case maybe you should think about relocating because the day-to-day life you describe does not reflect reality as everybody knows it. I have heard a lot of weird stuff about the Jersey Shore.

Live in the moment and you won't worry about the future
Enchanted Girl Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I'm in a relationship that I'm happy in and have been for awhile, but I'm paranoid because of all the divorce and other things that I have seen that true love is becoming extinct and that it will eventually catch up with me. It gives me hope that it's not when I see happy couples. It would be gross if they were making out or something in public (or worse), but seeing happy couples, even if I was single, means that love is still alive and that there's more of a chance for everything to work out with me as well. And I don't want the world to be one filled with unhappy relationships and families, so it makes me more hopeful in that area as well.
Citizen Erased Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Seeing them makes me sad cos my bf is so far away and it kinda makes me jealous of them. But I then remember when we are together we're one of "them".
