My intention was to mock the massive amount of porn-related threads... not actually to encourage the discussion.

 

My original post did not reflect opinions contrary to yours...

 

Sorry if I jumped at the thread...which i now realize was a well meant one. I suppose I am a bit oversensitive to the subject in general ...and sometimes I assume too much.

I am under the impression that the number of porn threads shows that it's a very real problem for a huge number of people.

I actually think it might even make sense to create a "porn issues" subforum on LS. Seriously.

Every single one of us can start a thread to mock someone else’s problem. Not hard. Could be even fun.

 

We don’t do it because we know we all have issues. If we are not interested to contribute, or even to read, we simply don’t. We don’t start threads trying to belittle people who have that particular issue.

 

Why and how is the issue with porn any different???

I don't critize a person's right to start this kind of thread. What I question are people who claim they don't like a topic, but continuing to go into that thread to read it, then berate the other posters who want to discuss it. Even people who are sick of porn threads like reading about it! And by the way, this thread didn't say it was for people that only wanted to discuss how much they hate discussing porn, (Oh the irony if it had been). So no, me commenting on and suggesting that people who are sick of the porn topic to just ignore it, is no where near the same as me commenting in this thread. There are many topics on LS that get started that I am not intersted in. I don't waste my time reading them or going into them and then berating the other posters who want to discuss it. You know what I think? I think even people who claim they are sick of it, aren't all that sick of it. THey like talking about it too! And they like reading about it or else they would never go into those threads in the first place.

 

And the fact that there are so many porn threads should tell us something. That it's not a light easy issue. For men or for women. That it is infact a issue for many.

B) If I was hanging out at LS and reading the topics, who cares? That's what the board is for and something everyone here does.

 

C) I contributed to society yesterday by being part of a charity Polo match. What did you do yesterday while you were so concerned about seeing if JS was "lurking".

I would have to disagree that a comparison to cave drawings on a wall is equal to what porn today is. No one wants to remove or repress sexuality. I think the issue with porn centers more about how much more of that stuff is out there, the kind of stuff that is out there, how much people spend now looking at it due to technology and how the industry represents women. A cave drawing on a wall of a normal cave woman's body is a far cry from the imagery that people can absorb everyday on the internet and that they infact do. Lets not pretend that porn is a healthy representation of sexuality. Especially porn today where men aren't looking at just a magazine once a month. That was bad enough on setting up false expectations about *real* women. Perhaps if men were more interested in real life and real women, they wouldn't feel the need to fall back on porn so much.

First off... PORN is IMO pictures, flim, media, writings, ect... Made and Marketed for the specific purpose of FOR THE MOST PART turning on and getting MEN to jack off.

 

I personaly would not want to make my LIFE about working in the PORN industry even from the business perspective. The closest I would even consider to working for PORN is working for a Cable/satelite ect. provider that HAPPENS to offer the chanels but doesn't create them... BUT EVEN THAT IS IFY.

I would say that LS can be a waste of time YES, BUT it doesn't have the same likely hood TO PERVERT a man to new levels. I also don't have to hide the fact that I post on a msg board. lol

While I am a firm believer in people posting and discussing whatever they want, I also believe that we should have respect for other people’s issues. Simply because we all have some.

 

I don’t spend too much time on LS and probably do not understand the dynamic of this forum properly, but if there are many threads on a particular subject, it can only mean that many people either have some sort of issue with the subject or have something to say.
