At any rate, at my college, and with my major, you absolutely had to put a lot of time into it all anyway, even if you were a brilliant god among gods. The "genius-slacker" types get slaughtered because they find that even their natural abilities are not enough to keep up without putting in a lot of man-hours, and I'm talking about material that makes even perfect-SAT/valedictorian/high-IQ types sweat.

I think SW is trying to make the distinction between, on opposite ends of the spectrum, "genius slackers" who can skate by with perfect grades and no time input, versus "study gunners" who *have* to study like hell to get the same grades. You need to keep in mind that this typically is only the case with easier material. Once you get into the hard and heavy stuff, everyone's going to be putting in a lot of man hours. That "genius slacker score = studybot score" issue simply doesn't exist past a certain point.

Heh, I'm a very unfortunate case in point. All the way up to high school, I practically slept through every class, picked up the books the day before the exam, and got near-perfect scores. I have fleeting memories of playing video games a week before the most important public exam of 12 years of school, and scurrying around the house to search for past-year papers the day before. Ah, the sweet life.

Then I made two mistakes: I headed into a course which involved heavy mugging, in a university notorious in my country for its 'kiasu' culture (sorry, gotta wiki it, I can't really explain it). God, that was a horrible awakening.

I am just wondering what on earth everyone does with their free time. In college I had virtually no time due to classes and such, but in the real world, I feel like I have so much free time outside of work despite working 40-70 hours per week.

That being said, how often do you see your significant other (once a week? Twice? Thrice? Every day? etc)

I can fill unlimited amount of free time with reading the paper, laying on the couch, reading stuff on the internet (and as a result feel that I don't have enough free time). I see my gf 2-3 times a week, 1 or 2 of which she spends the night at my place.
