Crazy Magnet Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Single with no bf....several months. I've never gone without dates since I started dating at 15.
greatgirlfriend Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Several years (though in between I had a FWB).
Lizzie60 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 It is now... it's been 7 years... was in long term relationships most of my life.
Pyro Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 well if we are starting from the beginning of our existence, then 18 years for me. Aside from that 19 months.
Trialbyfire Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Or gone without dating?I took a six month dating strike, a few years ago. Beyond that, either dating, in a relationship or married.
meerkat stew Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 2.5 years, didn't want to date for some time after 9/11. Living next to a crater put a kink in my mojo til I moved out of NYC.
CrestfallenNoMore Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I've just voluntarily entered what I expect to be my longest period of unattachment. (Though, I guess I still technically have a FWB, despite his unpredictability, which is all I want at this point in my life.) I realized I'm too damaged - for now, at least - from my ex-husband's infidelity. I don't trust myself to make good decisions and am fearful of the lack of control one must give up to be in a relationship, so the risks outweigh the rewards for me. I'm happy with my life, and having 100% say in what I do, and when I do it. I made this decision a month ago but anticipate riding out the rest of my 30s solo (I'm 35 now). Since I don't want children, any biological imperative is moot.
Satisfaction Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I've been single celibate for abut 3 and half years. Without dating? Well if you constitute dating as seeing someone on a regular basis, i'd say about 8 months.
Stockalone Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Or gone without dating? A couple of years.
USMCHokie Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 First 25 years of my life relationship-less and sexless. It's been 6 months since the breakup...don't foresee any dates in the near future...
Zeegagge Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 No relationship, 7 months, always had dates in between.
sally4sara Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 No BF at all and not even going out on casual dates? I swore off guys for 3 months once. I needed a breather after briefly dating someone who turned out crazy. I didn't want to hear anything from any guy for a bit after that.
Chitowngirl Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 3 months...I'll be hitting the 3 month mark here in a few weeks...this is the first time in my life the desire hasn't really been there. I guess b/c I had such high hopes with my last boyfriend, and just how that didn't work out, I'm not in the mood to be let down again.
counterman Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I can relate to you, chitowngirl. I was let down by my ex who I had high hopes for and you assured me that she did love me. I'm just not up for dating currently but feel my vigour coming back.
EnglishMuffin Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 One month relationship in high school, 5 years of break w/o dating while focusing on college, 2 years relationship, 1 year of recovery w/o dating, and then 6 months of on- and off-dating period, and now I am in a new relationship with a special man.
Cinderella7 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Right now. I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years in July, so I've been single for 7 months. I've dated casually off and on since then but haven't called anyone my "boyfriend" so to speak. It hasn't really bothered me until recently, so I think I'm ready to put more energy into dating again.

I guess b/c I had such high hopes with my last [girl]friend, and just how that didn't work out, I'm not in the mood to be let down again. I currently have a serious case of that...
SoulSearch_CO Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 4 years, I guess. From when I graduated HS until I was 22.
