healsole Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Hmm... I'm having feelings for a man in my professional world (an instructor's assistant at my college) that is quite older than me. (10 years-ish.) I am early twenties. Logically, this is socially unacceptable among all my peers/family/friends. I may be being silly but i am 75% sure the feeling is mutual. He can melt me with his gaze and our conversations. I have not felt this way since i was a silly little girl in grade school. I am completely mentally obsessed! Not even sexually, i just genuinely like this man & have overwhelming feelings of peace/satisfaction/excitement when talking to him/learning from him. Should i keep these feelings to myself and let it go, or tell him and risk losing a professionally powerful friend/peer? Crap!!
Habibti Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Definately do not say anything to him. If a man wants to really do something; he'll do it himself. If he wants to ask you out; he will. Chances are though because of the circumstances he may find you attractive but doesn't want to move beyond that. Either way, if he really wants something he'll persue, all men are this way. If you go to him first and he rejects you; you'll feel indifferent towards him AND humiliated and be forced to work with that everyday.
Author healsole Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 Thank you that helps a ton! Where was my brain when i wrote this post? I will try to keep my love obsessed thoughts a secret for now!

You have a thing for an older man who has some power over you. Don't disrupt his life and yours over this silly crush.
Alma Mobley Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Oh-- I forgot to say -- this is fairly common, so don't think you are weird!
