I just found it ironic because it totally contradicts what I see most often. And yeah, a Naomi Campbell with a mini-afro, locks, or something is more like it. I think I've only seen maybe two white men with black women who had THAT much weaveI. And then, of course, I know a guy who has a wife who loves to wear hair not her own. But on any given day, that's not usually what I see. That's not true. I recently, stripped the perm out of my hair and now I wear it like Macy Gray. Kind of a soul sister thing. It's kind of wild. I get some many compliments each day from WHITE MEN at work and in the street about my hair. They love it. One of them actually came to my desk and said, "All Star, I have to tell you that I love that hair." Black women also like it, but I don't get much about it from black men except one guy passed me and said, "Only Miss Super Cool would wear her hair like that." My hair is just in it's natural state, but I do make sure it's sticking right up.

But who dayum cares? I don't care that Black women are stereotyped to be loud or aggressive ...that's what people say. Come on, I know you've read the posts from some White ppl...it's a very well-publicized stereotype. Blacks are incarcerated for crack possession and sales at higher rates that Whites - that's a given.... But again...WHO CARES. I don't plan to date a pedophile OR a friggin crack dealer. I don't care what color they are. The problem w/some people is they have to feel as though they're less at fault than other groups in order to feel secure. Why not be secure in the fact that you treat people like human beings? My point in bringing that up was not to engage in a 2yr research project w/you...not to say you wouldn't be a cool cyber-research-buddy...but that's just not why I am on this site. I have read many things that were not flattering to people from my ethnic background...but I learn not to take that stuff personally. Maybe it's what you've observed? Could be you go around conducting door-to-door surveys on Black men all day....IDUNNO? The point is again....WHO-CARES? Find a cool chick on here to chat with, and relax my friend. ...geesh?

Don't ask me exactly what it is I like about them (the ones I've seen on tv), but whenever I think about White men...they're at the top of the list. Here in California, they're typically surfer dudes...nothing against sufer dudes! Lemme see? ...I think Jewish guys are nice looking. Dark hair, nice eyes. Last year, I had a Korean professor who was so gorgeous, well-spoken, tall and masculine. Wow...I had the biggest crush, but I covered it up well. I thought he had one on me too...turns out, so did all the other girls! *smile*

And another thing...the fact that you're quoting those things show that you are interested in emphasizing on what makes various ethinic groups DIFFERENT v. what makes us all THE SAME. Again, I believe pointing out negative statistics/thoughts adds fuel to the fire that is RACISM. Prior to posting, I read thread after thread about the exact percentages that various individuals/entities claim to be true for the Black race. The question I asked myself was: Did this individual go through the time and trouble to search for the site containing the link, which documented this terrible, terrible problem within the Black race because he wanted to make some Black person feel good about themselves/their race once they read it? Or adversely, did this person go through several minutes/hours of researching misfortune within the Black race to prove to himself and Blacks reading and sharing his information, that their race is inferior/damaged/hopeless/defective/pathologic? See, when I want to make someone feel good, I say things like: "Hey, nice shirt!" Or perhaps, "Wow, talking to you is so interesting....I am enjoying it....tell me more" .......or even, "Hey, the (fill in the blank) interests me...I'd like to more about it...can u please share?" In other words, there's a way to make friends...or to get along w/others on/offline. Slamming them w/statistics about how *****ed up their race is is a kill-joy...trust me. You'll never get a girlfriend like that! Seriously, I am genuinely in love w/everyone. But like my own people (Blacks) ...I am honest about what I observe. I cannot report what I've observed living in S. Central among MY PEOPLE for 34 years truthfully without being honest about what I've observed among other groups. That includes Whites - All groups have been negatively stereotyped ...that's a reality. How important are stereotypes to me...not very important...which is why I opened the initial conversation up w/discussion of killing that stat bs. I'm impressed that you're advanced enough to type the words "Blacks...prisons....statistcs....screw ups" in your search engine and come up w/20 links for readers to click on. By no means do I want your efforts to go unrecognized...atta-boy! However, it just makes some folks feel like you'd rather focus on the negative aspects rather than ones that attract you to us in the first place. I'm sure you can think of at least one? Lately, I've been interested in learning how to do tapestry! ..yeah I know...tapestry? I've done some other things and that's something I haven't "tapped" into yet . Rug making too...got a cool book on various types of stiching and rugmaking is in there. Anyone have any experience in this area of crafting? If so...please share.

I am perfectly happy with the differences between me and others, I like them. I'm glad to hear you embrace differences. I think differences are what makes us all the same: we all have them. Idunno? I just feel that there is so much emphasis placed on demonizing all groups that we subconsciously get caught in a web of finger-pointing, name-calling and blaming. Before we know it, we're feeding right into the racist, seperatist plots of people we turn our nose up at. What's the difference? It's easy to get tangled up in that stuff if you're not careful but one way to avoid being sucked in to it is rather than focusing on the stereotypes and so-called statistical findings about a group(s), why not work on learning more about what makes them GREAT, INTERESTING, WONDERFUL, and FASCINATING? That takes wayyyy less engergy, doesn't it? I challenge everyone to make an effort to learn something AWESOME about a group you've heard alot of negative things about. Bring your information to this forum and share it! Of course, good cannot exist without bad...but we've shared the bad stuff ...so let's talk about something WONDERFUL. Watch...this is gonna work!!! Well, I'm sitting here waiting hoping that one of these days I'll see a thread from a white woman looking for a good black man, or a white man looking for good black woman. Because surely black women on here have been fussing a lot lately about dating white men. Not that it's bad, just an observation..
