Touche Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 SG - you are a funny woman, it's hardly surprising that you have failure after failure in relatioonships. You read too much into them being a typical woman and ruin the enjoyment for your bf. you'll be on your death bed before you know it, so lighten up. dating should be about having an enjoyable time and you turn it into something major. That's a sign of being mentally ill. What? Uhm, hello? She's dating. She doesn't have a b/f now. She's being smart. If she were mentally ill as you say, she'd ignore every sign and just "enjoy." Get with the program will you?
Jilly Bean Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 he mentioned that when in a relationship work-related stuff cannot come before the relationship. Interesting priorities from a guy who has never been in love and dumps everyone he dates. Doncha think? He sounds more like shirt guy...
Touche Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Why would you want her to ignore you? The advice you have given is good advice. The troll gave good advice? no. The troll gave NO advice. Just insults. Jeezzz, you sure draw them out like flies, SG!
Trialbyfire Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 To consolidate this, this guy has: Asked you to buy him a shirt after the first date, getting his sister to do it when you wouldn't.Told a litigator after one date, that work should come after his needs.((hugs)) to my big sis!

No, no. Two different guys!!!

No, aren't these two different guys? I'm so confused! (Hugs back you little dear.)
Trialbyfire Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 No, no. Two different guys!!! Oh man, I need a score card! Okay, let me try again! He's never fallen in love and he's in his mid-thirties.Told a litigator that work should come after his needs, after one date.
Author Star Gazer Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 How did you respond to that? My opinion? Very presumptuous of him at this stage of the game. Unless he's offering to pay all your bills. (Oh and ignore the troll on here.) I told him that work will always come first, to an extent. If I have plans, say on the weekend, I will work hard during the week to make sure I can meet my social commitments. But if/when something comes in last minute, unfortunately, even if it's Christmas Day, the sh*t has gotta get done and I'm the girl to do it. As my old boss used to say, "The life of a litigator is one of sacrafice." Interesting priorities from a guy who has never been in love and dumps everyone he dates. Doncha think? He sounds more like shirt guy... You see my concern? Surprised he's not the same guy? Who shat in your vagina? Okay, that's actually kinda funny. Other than that, you can go away now.
Trialbyfire Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 No, aren't these two different guys? I'm so confused! (Hugs back you little dear.) Haha..yes, I didn't check my scorecard!
Author Star Gazer Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 He kissed me at the end of the date too, in a very forward kinda way. Like he *expected* it. Nothing casual about it. Yeah, weird. Where do I find these guys?
sfsassy Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Well, I had to flake on him once due to work issues. I had a huge filing that day, muy importante...much more important than a first date. Anyway, in a round about way he mentioned that when in a relationship work-related stuff cannot come before the relationship. As far as I'm concerned, if my client has a crisis at 5 p.m. on a Friday that requires working over the weekend, so be it. Although I try, I can't always control my opposing counsel nor the dates the court sets hearings. I don't love it, but work sh*t does pop up at inopportune times. If that's going to be a huge issue for him, we have problems already. What, opposing counsel doesn't care about your love life? (shocker!) I probably would be like that guy, but I probably would know enough before even dating to know that would be an issue. I actually shy away from doctors and lawyers since I know those jobs are very time consuming. I also wouldn't talk to you you about it, but would just see how it played out. You may be better with someone with the same types of time constraints who "got it". Does this happen a lot, or just once in a great while? If it is part of your lifestyle, then when dating, you may want to talk aout how, even though s**** comes up unexpectedly, you absolutely love your work. That way people know that is a nonegogiable. And I have even cancelled a first date for a work related thing. Work, definitely more important than a early date. Me thinks he might be picky, and that is why he has dumped everyone.
sfsassy Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 No, no. Two different guys!!! Lol. At least he isn't a total narcissist.
Touche Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Haha..yes, I didn't check my scorecard! Get with the program, sis! Where DO you find these guys, SG? So did he accept your explanation? (and thanks for getting rid of the one troll. You still have another one though to exterminate.)

Where do I find these guys? eweeeeeeeee. Never mind thinking he may just be clueless. I bet he is one of those people who has a list of things that must e done on vaious dates. I think that you need someone who appreciates a strong, independent woman who wants someone in her life, but doesn't NEED someone. I don't think this guy is that guy.

Touche Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 My mom thinks I would have more luck at the loony bin, with all the weirdos I date! ahaha. Funny. You know though, who among those of us who have found love can't say the same thing? It's true. It's all garbage until you find that one person.

Jilly Bean Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 You see my concern? Surprised he's not the same guy? Oh, I hear ya, sister! I'm always really turned off by a guy who throws down conditions like that early on. It's almost like he's already setting up the groundwork for the break-up! I think the flag is leaving yellow territory and moving towards orange...

SG, What percentage of your dates do you get from the justice/legal field?
Author Star Gazer Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 More like brown flags from all the BS. SG, What percentage of your dates do you get from the justice/legal field? Almost none. I don't like to date lawyers!!!
johan Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I really think that if you're going to use the flag metaphor, as worn as it is, you should use the auto racing colors. Yellow, green, red, black, checkered. There is no orange flag, or even one in between red and orange.

Jilly Bean Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 There is no orange flag, or even one in between red and orange. Orange is what comes between yellow and red. Don't you pay attention to Homeland Security Alerts? Geesh.
grogster Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Almost none. I don't like to date lawyers!!! Alright, Star. Now it's personal! And after all we've been through!!!
