I am extremely fortunate. My wife knows me intimately and apparently really trusts me. I have never cheated on her after 21 years of marriage,,, I am 45. My best friend is 26 years old, and yes, she is a woman. I can go to movies with her, sometimes go shopping, and we have even gone out of town together (with our children), my wife even goes places with her. My friend has never made advances toward me, nor have I made any toward her, however many coworkers have openly commented stating that they just *KNOW* we are intimately involved.

My wife jokingly refers to her as my other wife but knows we are just friends. Amanda is very cute, but then so is my wife. I honestly think of her the same way I think of my own sisters. Maybe knowing her in her childhood and being her mentor and training officer made us the way we are, who knows? We talk to each other almost daily, sometimes many time a day.

I would literally freak out if my wife did some of the things I have read about in these forums. I guess I'm just a lucky guy! Now I know some of the guys you people discuss are guilty of cheating, but honestly, not all friendship between men and women equate to sexual affairs. Just food for thought.

Well friend, you and I are in the same boat that our best friends are female. Actually I really don't have very many male friends to be quite honest, I get along much better with women, I have no idea why. However we also have to remember that we are in the minority and that most guys approach women with one thng in mind. Even though my best friend (and soon to be my best 'man') is a woman I would never suggest a woman take a man on as her good bud. The chances that the guy is on the make are just too great unfortunately. I agree, I would never even consider dating my friends, at this point the relationship would be damaged horribly if it went down that path. The sad thing is when it comes to these stories is that people can be very selfish, and don't really care what happens to 'loved ones' when the start down that dark road. Having been cheated on myself and watching my father do it to my Mom, I would never accept this sort of behavior again.

It totally depends on whether or not the spouse KNOWS about the friendship! Affairs thrive on secrecy and deception...My H does not happen to be capable of having just a platonic friendship w/ females, but some men can, I agree. If they wife is aware of the friendship and feels comfortable with it and you don't do any sneeking around about it, then I guess that works for you all...
