NIKI 28 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I have really bad acne on my back and have enlarge pores on my face. Does anyone have any suggestions??
Star Gazer Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 My old roommate was a professional-basketball cheerleader, and had it pretty bad. Get one of those back scrubber things and make sure you're vigorous with washing your back, particularly after hot days and working out. She was a big fan of that stuff on TV that comes in the white bottle with green writing...the name is escaping me... It's generally used on the face, but she used it on her back. As for the pores, there are a ton of products out there than can help reduce the appearance of the size of your pores. Hit the Clinique or Lancome counter at the department store.
Author NIKI 28 Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 Thanks!! The white bottle with the green writing is called Proactive hahahahahaha Anyways I've use that before but I think after while your body gets immune to it. Then it doesn't work as good as it did before, but thanks anyways.
ShoeGirl Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I have battled with acne for years and I have really sensitive skin so products like Proactive and some prescriptions dry out my skin really bad. I read somewhere to use witch hazel several times a day as an astringent (it is not as drying as alcohol based astringents), I have been using it for a few weeks and it has been working really well. I also recently read that if you dissolve aspirin in the witch hazel (200mg aspirin in 1oz witch hazel) it will help keep your skin clear (Aspirin is made with salicylic acid, but it isn't as drying) I haven't tried it but it might be worth a shot. I also felt that my body was getting used to the different things that I was using. My dermatologist suggested switching off every month, right now I use Differin one month and Tazorac one month for my face and it seems to work better than when I only used one constantly. For the acne on your back use a back scrubber (as Star Gazer suggested) and use it with an body wash made to prevent acne (Phisoderm or Neutrogena Body Clear are ones that I have used before). Scrub your back after you are finished washing/conditioning your hair as many hair products can clog pores.
Author NIKI 28 Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 Thanks for the good suggestions! They are very interesting. I didn't think of the aspirins that is so......neat! I mean does it have to be 200mg?? I think I will try that. I am using Neutrogena and a back scrubber right now but I still have the marks that the pimples leave on my back and I still constantly break out on my back. My face seem to be staying cool, but like I said earlier my pores are enlarged. I am using black soap along with tea tree essential oil to keep the acne off of my face, so that's what I'm using for my face. It is so weird because I can't use the same products on my face that I use for my back because it won't work. I have an appointment with a dermatologist on March 1, so I'll keep you guys updated on my skin. Thanks again!! Nikira
IpAncA Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I used to get it really bad myself. I have REALLY oily skin and I'm allergic to perfume in lotions and shampoos. So if my hair touches my skin, I'm screwed. I've tryed the Neur. and that didn't work or me. So recently I tryed Cetaphill and that is working but I also use St.Ives firm and smooth and on my back and face I use St.Ives blackhead and pore strub every other day and interchange it with the firm one and cetaphill. I also got rid of everything in my house that was either greasy, fried, etc... That REALLY helped me out a lot. I would have suggested Pro-active but like you said you get used to it and then is doesn't work.
ShoeGirl Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I mean does it have to be 200mg?? I doubt that you have to use 200mg per ounce but I wouldn't recommend using much more than that. I just looked at the aspirin I have and it is 325mg, I would probably just use more witch hazel (about 1.5oz) with the stronger pills.
justagirlforever Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 If you have true acne - not "just" spots - go and see a doctor. Acne made my life a misery until I did and no over-the-counter product I messed with (and messed with my skin - and I'm sure sometimes just amde things worse) did anything. This might also help: http://www.healthofchildren.com/A/Acne.html
Author NIKI 28 Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 Now justagirl what is this A person needs only two tools. WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape. Is this part of the acne regiment?? Not to be funny, just trying new things, anything that would take this disgusting crap off my back. I mean sometimes I would break out on my back so bad that the pimples are red and sore.... (EEK) Well........I guess I have to try the Cetaphill. I use to use their soap, but it dried my face out really bad, so I'll just try the liquid. However, I do use St. Ives firming mask which works great for my skin. Thanks again ladies and take care. Hey justagirl I'm going to check out that website right now. Peace, Nikira

If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape. Is this part of the acne regiment?? OK, there are always exceptions in life - and this is one of them! Please don't try the tape or WD40 Seriously - don't feel you have to put up with acne. A doctor can help - and if not, then refer you to a dermatologist. Don't be ashamed about it either. I had it for many (many) years. Or not as the case may be, because I had it fully controlled. And now, just about outgrown it. So know full well what it feels like. All the best
stace79 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 This is huge....wash your back AFTER you use hair products. I tend to get blemishes on my back right around where my sports bra is, especially if I don't shower right away after working out. Make sure you don't "hang out" in your sweaty sports bra after exercising, and always shower after you get really sweaty like that. I use a neutrogena product on my back that I also use for my face. I can't remember the name but it's got little microbeads for removing dead skin and all that. I also try to buy antibacterial body wash (dial) or at minimum nothing too moisturizing because it clogs my pores and makes backne worse. =) I think the biggest thing is getting in a routine with whatever works and sticking with it. If I don't use that facial stuff on my back for a day or two it tends to come back. I have battled with acne for years and I have really sensitive skin so products like Proactive and some prescriptions dry out my skin really bad. kymberann Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 You can wash with whatever you want and change it up, but it won't address the real reason why you get bacne in the first place. I used to get it too, alomst boil like zits. NASTY!! And mostly around that time of the month. You really have to look at what you eat, or what you don't eat. I brought this up with a nutritional counselor, who is a friend of mine and she explained I wasn't getting enough raw fruits and veggies. I was eating them, but not enough! So I overhauled my intake of fruits and veggies intake A LOT and now I have no more! I get a few zits on my face mainly around that time again, but nothing like before!! DO a google on Juice Pluse, that is what has helped me tremendously! Best!
kitkat826 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I suggest the website acne.org for anyone who is suffering from acne (it covers all types, including bacne).
polywog Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I suggest the website acne.org for anyone who is suffering from acne (it covers all types, including bacne). How about Buttne?
Jubilee Kate Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I used to have it on my back. I have middle-back length hair and thought that might have been the cause of it. I now wash all the conditioner out of my hair before soaping up to remove any residue of the conditioner oils on my skin. This, in turn, also helped clear up the zits around my hairline.
monkey00 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Buy a scrubber and use it when you shower, it works for the bacne. Words from my dermatologist: Large facial pores...there's nothing that can be done about it, it is part of you. At best all you can do is use pore cleansers from off the counter to clean them but thats it.
