It's coming. Next year both of my children will be off to college and ... outta here.

My son is 18 and will graduate from high school in the spring. He has student housing all worked out (and HE is paying for it!). He's quite ready.

And my daughter will be 18 within days of her graduation. She'll move into university housing the following fall.

So! If married couples sell the house and buy a condo when the kids leave, what do used-to-be-married moms do?

Yeah, I think I understand it is hard for you. Me and my brother moved out of the house coincidently both in the same week. It was tough for my father who had taken care of us. He's alone two, and he was scared of getting lonely. But we do visit him every week. And I have a son, who sleeps over sometimes. My father really enjoys his freedom now; he goes out with his friends, even goes to gigs.

I bet you were a great mom for years. You gave them all your wisdom. Don't worry they'll still need some of it; but you actually have a bit of freedom then. It'll be weird at first, but do stuff with your friends. Enjoy it. :)
