Meggedy Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Okay, here's the deal, I have been dating a new guy and we're doing the Valentine's thing tonight (as we are unable to get together 2/14). I got him a gift which I hope is good, but I just want some random internet male opinions on this one. I ended up having an adventure getting the gift and I'll tell him the story when I give it to him. He loves scotch. An aficionado. I knew absolutely nothing of scotch. So I went and did "field research" at these super plush rich-old-men bars, where I talked up patrons to find their favorite varieties (everybody liked my "mission"), and in the meantime got a bit of an education in scotch varieties and tasting. This took some work. I settled on a pricey bottle of scotch that bears the royal seal of the Prince of Wales (it's apparently his favorite, that's kind of nifty) and was the best I tasted in my "research." I got 2 nice scotch glasses and printed out the history of the distillery and the specific variety. That, and lingerie to die for. I know booze and sexy undies are a bit cliche, but I thought this would be kind of cool and maybe a little different, and in the meantime I have developed an appreciation for good scotch. It took some effort. Did I do good? He's still rather new, our 1st Valentines, but we are madly in love and I just need some reassurance (or suggestions if I totally bombed), for what it's worth.
