Just wanted to do a quick survey of LS participants.

How many of you all are actively involved in therapy and what type is it?

How many have joined a support group other than LS?

gracias!

Couples counciling. I could probably use some serious one on one behavioral therapy too though.

I forgot..

(ok it's becoming a long survey)

And if not why not?

Also, how many OW/OM specifically are satasfied with LS as a venue for support? Would you prefer a more moderated forum? or a more resource centerred site?

I'd like to, but even with health insurance, the cost is pretty high... there must be something I've overlooking since I know people in my income range who are in therapy. I could really benefit from it, especially now.

Hi, I have been working one on one with a therapist since NOV, I find it of great help. I am in no other support group's. I found LS one year ago and since then have found this site very helpful in expressing my thought's and feeling's.

I've been in therapy since last year, one on one cognitive behavioral therapy. I've benefitted greatly from the experience, and will continue to see my therapist for a while, but that's par for the course with issues like mine.

I see a CBT therapist for anxiety. (cognitive behaviour therapy)

Afew years ago my mom wanted to go to therapy with me to sort out our issues, but I wasn't ready...And as it's turned out, we sorted it out anyway. She's still a pain in the butt, but I love her!

I'm in therapy and it helps more than I imagined it would. Getting past all the emotions of living in an abusive marriage and then falling in love with another guy...geez...without my therapist I surely would be a compete wreck!

I talk to myself mostly...

A couple of years ago I went to a few sessions with someone skilled in anger management because I was unusually short tempered .. I think it was 3 sessions.. but it was helpful and it helped me get a handle on what was causing it..

Is this question only for OWs & OM? Assuming it's not, I have been in therapy a few times in my adult life and it's turned me into a grown up. First I saw a Jungian psychiatrist when I had a serious creative block (it was amazing), also during this time I saw an art therapist because I was able to work thru stuff with images better than words back then.

A few years later I saw a therapist when I started having anxiety attacks which was like opening a can of worms. She was awsome, and I saw her off and on for 7 years. Did a lot of hard work and really healed from lots of old wounds.

Two weeks ago I began to see a therapist because I am going thru that big life change called being dumped. I think it will be short term, but I can tell that it is already helping me to cope and process what I'm going through.

I have never had health insurance, but have either found a way to pay for it because it's worth it, or in one case traded artwork (I am an artist), and now I live in a state that offers a lot of help to people that don't have a lot of money.

Oh I forgot, my exH and I went to a couples therapist for a while and I was disappointed. She was nice, but she sounded like a self-help book and would eat her lunch during the sessions (which we paid a lot for!) I found this very unprofessional!

I have been seeing a cognitive behavioral therapist for several years. It's been extraordinarily helpful.

I do not attend any support groups. And I have found LS to be amazingly helpful as it is. The people here are open and honest and give points of view that I would otherwise have missed.

Thanks you guys!

I am going to see a therapist Friday morning. But LS is my only support group as of now. I wish there was a group were I could really go to and meet the people.

Congrats on that! I TOTALLY know and understand what you mean about opening a can of worms...CBT or any type of therapy is like this. What you put into it, is what you get out of it.

Do you still suffer from anxiety?

There is, and ask your therapist about group therapy.

Not anymore, but it could always raise its ugly head, I feel. I occasionally feel a little coming on, but it never really happens thank god. People who have never had anxiety attacks can't understand what they are! But people who have, we understand each other.

I know what you mean. My thoughts are exactly like yours.

My husband doesn't suffer from anxiety, he's quite laid back, and I know he's tried his best to understand, he's researched and done some reading but he still doesn't really "get" it. I am lucky he's supportive and helpful. Even if he does say some dumb things! lol!
