herenow
While doing some research for a speech this weekend (honor to MLK), I came across this quote. It sums up how I was when I first came here to LS and how I have, if you will, matured. "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear." Martin Luther King Jr. Just thought I'd share.
puddleofmud
Comes from one my all time favorite books: The Strength to Love by Dr. Martin Luther King. That book has been in my house for as long as I have been an adult and has been required reading for my sons, which they read as young men and we have discussed many times. Not only that I am proud to share a birthday with Dr. King! Though I may be often, alone, on my birthday, I always feel great comfort in sharing it with one who has brought so much awareness to this world! And one who sacrificed their life for others. Wow..... I love you for making your sons not only read that, but to try and understand it..... Here's required reading for the daughter I thought I might have: "Listen to the Mustn'ts, Child, Listen to the Don't's, Listen to the Never Haves, Listen to the Won't's...(paraphrashing here....) and then, listen, listen close to me: "Anything can happen child, ANYthing can be...." I always said that when I had a daughter, I would have that whole poem (Shel Silverstein) printed out, framed, and hung on her wall.....
pureinheart
Wow....how cool! Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is my hero (literally)....if there are two people I'd like to pattern my life after it is him and Jaquilyn Kennedy Onassis. If I could come to the place of having even half the dignity, grace and class that these two people had....I've accomplished much...to operate in such style is a life long dream....and I do have a dream! I choose LOVE!

I choose LOVE! Jackie O: I'm with ya there. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that she said that the greatest thing you can accomplish in this world is to be a good parent. That, if you fail at that, well, then, what else is there? She was a beautiful human being.
