XxSugar CookiexX Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Ok, My best friend has been stressed out lately. You know the usual, school and stuff. but when he is, he turns into a huge jerk, and takes it out on me, But I'm understanding so I try to help. but sometimes it causes fights, which causes more stress.. I try to help and cheer him up, I listen to all his problems, but nothing works.. what should I do?
Curmudgeon Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 ...he turns into a huge jerk, and takes it out on me... Set boundaries and let him know that using you as a verbal punching bag is inappropriate and will not be tolerated. He'll only be able to treat you badly if you permit him to. Tell him you're there to be supportive of him but will not put up with unfriendly, angry or abusive behavior of any kind. You might also suggest he talk to his parents about some counseling.
Author XxSugar CookiexX Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 Thanks, that sounds like a really good idea.
dame_mas Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 you should let him know that you are his friend and not "venting space" and that he should respect you even if he is driven by stress! he may say things that might hurt you, and then later on apologise.. but in any true sense, will a good true friend ever do that??
