Here we can neuter them at 2 lbs.... but that is because so many irresponsible people will not get their adopted kittens neutered so you have to do so before they go home with the adopters.

Most vets will tell you at 6 months...... I usually do the deed at 4-6 months.

Rabies vacs are required at 16 weeks so I just get them done then and save another trip to the vet for a rabies vac.

Male cat neutering is quick and not complicated at all......male cats recover very very quickly from neutering.

Thanks for the info A4A! I'll see what the vet recommends on Sat and get him booked in if I can!! :) Poor little Marmites going to lose his bits!!

Ha! You guys are funny. Thanks for all the responses. Getting him neutered pronto.

What a lovely night I had. Had to sleep with the bedroom door closed so Rudy wouldn't come in and spray in there. Had the 12 year old cat in the bedroom with us but I had to keep getting up when she scratched on the door to be let out (to eat and poop and to just be a pest) and then had to get up again when she scratched to come back in. Up and down, up and down...needless to say slept poorly.

NID, thanks I'll try the Febreeze..nothing else has worked. It still stinks but just not as strong as before.

Yousaveme, you made me laugh because I said the SAME thing to H. What is it with the males? They're so high maintenance..and I'm talking boy children, men, male cats..ALL of them! Sheesh!:p

Thanks, Erika and you gave me a little hope that this problem will soon go away. I did call the animal shelter to see if they neuter but they didn't answer and it's during their normal business hours..what's up with that? Have to try again. If not, taking him to a vet.

a4a, I'll look for Nature's Miracle..where can I get it? As for the litter boxes around the house..no thanks! See, he uses the litter box though. He's a good little cat in that regard. He started using it from DAY ONE when we showed him where it was and put him in it.

Hey, LK good luck with your neutering. You're kitty sounds cute.

Yes, Craig they ARE smart little things in some ways. Dog people never believe that.

Couple of other things about him...he meows REALLY loudly. Does it every morning when we get up. It's a bit annoying. Also, he doesn't stop eating! I mean it's constant. Every time I walk into the laundry area where his food bowl is he comes running. I mean he may have eaten 5 minutes before but if I go in there for something, there he is right behind me and starts eating again.

And of course he's tried to sneak into our bedroom several times and had to be removed. Why doesn't he get the message that he's not wanted in our marital bed anymore? He just won't get it. And it's so hard to turn him away.

You poor kitty mama!

You know that you are just going to have to give in to Mr. Kitty OM even if he stanks!

He wuffs you terribly and wants you to know that you belong to him and only him...sigh. :o

Cayan pepper behind him when he sprays.

When he comes back to check his territory he wont do it again most of the time.

I even had a vet tell me to use pepper spray as they are marking. The effects dont last long, but they remember it forever.
